Monitor and Restrict User commands as API endpoints
4 chat commands that would be great to have as API endpoints:
/monitor USERNAME - Start monitoring a user's messages.
/unmonitor USERNAME - Stop monitoring a user's messages.
/restrict USERNAME - Start restricting a user's messages
/unrestrict USERNAME - Stop restricting a user's messages
These endpoints are Generally Available as of February 2026

Seems like something that would help streamers stopping hate in their chat.

This is a real thing that sounds good to bring power for a streamer to manage it's chat.

This would allow for better filtering of spam bots in chat without allowing the attackers to know their messages are not visible

This would be immensely useful for defending against attackers. If someone is spamming my chat, then I could restrict them and prevent them from knowing they've been effectively banned/squelched. This would make them waste time on continuously attacking instead of making a new account to spam with. This would also free up Twitch resources as you would have less accounts to ban.

This would be an amazing assist to streamers and mods to ensure their community's communication remains within the TOS and streamer's chatting rules.

Make moderation better! Love this idea.
The automated moderation tools that can be built off of this could be customized per community, while also helping prevent the 'new account' spam that happens when mods try to filter out toxicity.
