Tags to Filter by What Console is Being Played
Consoles we are playing should have their own tags. It would help people who enjoy certain consoles to find content they love. This can apply to current generation games and retro. Since Retro is a category that is healthy and growing with lots of talented and incredible broadcasters, it would be cool to have tags based on the system we are playing to help discoverability. Since streaming in each game tends to make the experience more fragmented, people tend to stream under the general Retro category. When streaming under retro using a tag for the system you are playing could be helpful. Example tags could be;
NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Virtual Boy, Gamecube, Wii, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Sega 32X, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, GameBoy, Amiga, DOS, Atari, Commodore 64, Original Xbox, Playstation, Playstation 2, Playstation Portable, etc.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of console tags that could be made, but I wanted to at least get the idea going to see what people think. The idea would be every console should have its own tag.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to give you all an update that the following tags are now live:
NES, SNES, N64, Virtual Boy, GameCube, Wii, Sega Master System, Genesis, 32X, Saturn, Game Gear, Dreamcast, GameBoy, Amiga, DOS, Atari, Commodore 64, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, PSP, N-Gage, DS, DSi, and 3DS
Thank you all for your feedback and please let us know if you have any other tag suggestions. Enjoy the streams!

That would be a great idea, especially when diffrent consoles versions have distinct differences. Like the Aladdin games, or various Soul Calibur Sequels.

Yeah I've shared this opinion for a long time. I also agree with Finamenon, the Retro category needs to stay there, and the Tags are then additional filtering of the various content that is being played in the Category. For a while people used the Pinball (?!) tag to tell people they were playing on Commodore hardware because it was something that people agreed to use, if ever there was an argument that these tags are required, that is it.

Twitch, make this happen please! It would help the streamers get more attention towards their stream, which would in turn introduce more people to streamers and then more subs and next thing we all notice everyone is making more monies. Hooray!

While I support the console tags, I think part of the issue here is that the retro category is really just an actual game, one named "Retro", that has been co-opted for this purpose.
There really needs to be much better overall solution, because I'd like to browse all people playing retro games and see both the consoles AND the games people are playing. And the current retro category, for the convenience of making it much easier to browse than just using the retro tag, makes it hard to see what games are being played.

I get asked all the time if I'm playing on a console or emulating. This would help immensely.

Considering the differences between some games on some consoles that share an identical name, I really think this kind of tagging is necessary.

As a retro streamer, this would be super helpful not only so we don't have to add it to the stream title, but also so those looking for specific console plays are easier to find the content they want to watch. Double win on the platform.

Console tags are VERY Crucial! They can save streamers the space on the title bar below their broadcasts.

I like the game console tags. Good idea.

Whatever you do, don't segment or break up the actual category. I love this idea so long as it stays in the realm of tags.
Remember the old #creative category folks? I bet many don't. Soon as they started breaking that up, tons and tons of creative streamer's channels tanked out hardcore.

YES! I've been saying for years that retro is way too large of a tent for everything that it involves, and that having it parsed out by system would be a great way to solve a lot of discoverability issues. LOVE IT

This is a good step. One of the most common questions is which console is this on? Also, this would help viewers and streamers find certain streamers based on the specific platform they are using.

I’ve been wanting this for years! Allowing people to search for streams by console would really help with the discovery of channels in the retro community.
