Alcohol-free/sobriety
There are many streamers who will drink on stream, talk about drinking on stream, or just generally talk about alcohol, which could be uncomfortable for others for many reasons. Would be awesome to be able to tag yourself as an alcohol-free or sober stream
Hey all!
Excited to share that we now have a Sober tag on Twitch.
Thank you so much for your feedback on this and please let us know if there are any tags you would like to see added to the site!

This is a fantastic idea and the tag will only help make twitch a safer and more inclusive environment.

As an alcohol free person, this would be invaluable to help me reach others who have chosen not to drink and also create a safe place to talk about how British social culture (in particular) is positioned around the pub and booze.

sudden mentions and acts of alcohol is extremely triggering for someone in recovery like myself

Twitch is currently not a tolerant, safe place for alcoholics like myself. Twitch has ignored 6+ months of my reports, complaints, emails, and tweets about my concerns over their algorithm showing me more alcohol ads than my friends despite me never clicking on a single alcohol ad and always reporting alcohol ads as offensive. I was about one week away from deleting my account because Twitch's alcohol advertisement actively breaks Twitch's TOS section 9 article v about abusing users of the Twitch platform by not allowing a way to opt out of alcohol ads. This feature of having a sober safe space will be a small step toward helping people like me feel comfortable on Twitch. With a tag like this, people can feel safe reaching out for assistance and help, because sometimes, the difference between breaking sobriety and not is [a] seeing an alcohol ad and saying "***** it" and [b] seeing a sober streamer and saying "I'm having a rough day."

We often talk about "safe spaces" on Twitch but even a lot of streamers creating and curating those kind of environments are still full of alcohol. Specifically alcohol triggers are all over Twitch, right down to the advertisements that pop up. Being able to use a sober tag would ensure former alcoholics, people looking to find their sobriety, and people who just aren't comfortable around alcohol are entering a safe environment full of other sober people who understand the process, and have safe conversations where people understand the nuances of addiction. Please add this tag!!

This can be important for those who struggle with alcohol and want to ensure the stream is free from triggers to drink.

This is actually so important and I can hardly believe I never even thought about it.
I guess it just never occurred to me that I deserve a safe space from drugs & alcohol. It's just so much a part of our western culturePlease enable this.

It would be awesome to mark myself as a safe space for those who struggle with alcohol and drug related triggers. As a sober creator, I’d love to meet others and provide a space where they never have to worry about these topics coming up.

As someone currently struggling to stay sober, seeing and hearing about others partaking evaporates my resolve and I find myself wanting to match the vibe/energy more than I want to stay sober in that moment. I now avoid checking out new streamers in favor of sticking to only the ones I know don't do/discuss it on stream, and it's made Twitch feel a lot smaller as a result. It would mean a lot for me to be able to go back to enjoying the full Twitch experience.
