Re-Instate Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate as a seperate category/directory

A recent change to the IGDB classified Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for the Switch as a 'version' of Monster Hunter Generations for the 3DS - removing the Generations Ultimate directory entirely from Twitch.
This is a problem for quite a few streamers and viewers alike as the games provide entirely different and expanded experiences from one another, and viewers might search out someone playing the 3DS base game as opposed to the expanded iteration for the Switch that came later on.

Most people playing either of these entries today are streaming "Generations Ultimate" for the Switch. It's a game that built on the original version of the game that released on the 3DS, and it has substantial changes like a variety of new bosses, a new story campaign, a further difficulty rank that nearly doubles the game's length, and expanded weapon controls that allow the weapons to play completely differently than in the base "Monster Hunter Generations" for the 3DS.

People who are going back to the 3DS version these days are looking to experience the base-game without Generations Ultimate's inclusions. Again, this is a very different experience than how the 'expanded' Generations Ultimate is to play through with all its additions.

As it stands, with the Generations Ultimate category being removed most streamers have to mis-categorize their Generations Ultimate streams from the Switch as "Generations" for the 3DS. All their VODs which have used the "Generations Ultimate" category can no longer be found by viewers searching for that game to watch, and folks who follow the more popular "Generations Ultimate" category may not easily know to follow the "Generations" for 3DS category in order to keep finding the streams they want to watch.

I've talked with the IGDB folks in their Discord, and this unfortunately isn't a database issue. Generations Ultimate definitely is an iterated-on expansion of the base-game Generations, but it's not a different version of the same game.

These two games are very different, and only offering the less-used basegame "Generations" category as a way for streamers to present their broadcasts and for viewers to find the entertainment they want isn't a good solution.

    Twitch, thank you for reinstating the mhgu category! I see the category as of today and I'm glad I can stream for both audiences with less confusion between them. We really appreciate this!

    I believe this change is not only bad for the streamers but the viewers as well.
    There's a big difference, as a viewer, in having to filter streams of different platforms [ex ps4-Xbox] in a catagory.Vs having to filter to see if the games are even the same one.

    Playing with viewers is the most popular tag to search for with the monster hunter games. That I know of there are no official tags for selecting which console you are on. It's a gamble each stream if you cannot tell which game is being played before you click.

    I believe putting them together will be more confusing than having two separate categories.

    I agree wholeheartedly with Ristretto's statement and hope everyone working at Twitch sees this as not just a simple request, but as a request that would benefit viewers, streamers, and as a result, Twitch itself.

    Providing a better user experience for Twitch viewers and streamer will greatly improve the retention of viewers as well as lower the bounce rate due to a mismatch of expectations. This is a definitely a low hanging fruit that would produce a beneficial result for all parties involved.

    Generations is a game on the 3ds only, Generations Ultimate is separate game that is on the switch only. There also isn't even crossplay between the games at all, so the communities can't exactly be shoved into the same category.

    Even the way content is unlocked in one may differ from the other so removing Generations Ultimate as a separate game will make it difficult to find Streamers with information you need.

    I also really enjoy Generations ultimate and find it fixes a lot of issues I had with the previous game, but I'm sure some enjoy the original, and it's difficult to find someone streaming specifically one or the other if you remove the category to search for.

    As a content creator that broadcast MHGU I do not understand why they would do this. It just gives a bad experience for viewers that are looking for the expanded version that GU is known for. So basically when I'm broadcasting GU under the Base game category I'm bound to get viewers that are not looking for GU but for the base game itself. Not a good take on Twitch's part.
