Consolidate "I Wanna Be The Guy" Fangame categories
For years, the "I Wanna Be The Guy" category on Twitch has been the main hub for the original game along with its 10k+ fangames. There have been increasingly more categories added to Twitch for various fangames, and it only stands to divide the category for an already relatively small community.
I would like to request that the "I Wanna Be the Guy" category is renamed to "I Wanna Be The Guy + Fangames" and that the following games be removed from Twitch (and the followers migrated to the new category if possible):
I Wanna Be The Boshy
I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3
I Wanna Be The Guy: Gaiden
I Wanna Be the Co-op
I Wanna be The Justice Guy
I Wanna Run the Marathon
I Wanna Kill The Guy
I Wanna Take the Time Machine
I have already gotten direct permission from Kayin, the maker of "I Wanna Be The Guy," for any changes to be made for the betterment of the community.

As someone who's been in the community to various degrees since 2015, I wholeheartedly agree that this change would be to our benefit; there's no reason for only some games to be split from the umbrella label and I doubt Twitch would want over 12k categories added with more every day. It only makes sense that either every game gets a category, or they all share the umbrella category, and in this case the latter option is the only sensible one.

I would vote AGAINST this idea. What we need is not consolidating all categories under an umbrella name, but a way to nest categories within each other. This would let individual communities thrive, while still keeping a way for people to seek out same content altogether.
For an example, you could have "I Wanna Be The Guy series" as an umbrella, divided between "official" and "fanmade" games. Then, getting the games in those categories.
So if you want to watch "official" "I Wanna Be The Guy" streamers, you can, if you want to look for all types of "I Wanna X the Y", you can as well by displaying the whole umbrella on the screen. If you want to look for a specific fangame, you can do so as well.
Consolidation is NOT a solution. It is a bandaid patch that doesn't solve the core problems of the categorization on Twitch, and category nesting instead would benefit the entire Twitch community, not just the "I Wanna Be The Guy" community.
Pokémon, Zelda, Persona, Sonic, Art streams, Programmation, Crafts, IRL, Retro Games... A lot of categories and communities would gain a lot from Category Nesting.

Hey, it's been almost a year since I posted this, and we have over 200 signs (for a community that is not particularly big). I would appreciate if someone actually looks into this to make things easier for viewers and streamers alike.

Don't think the "+ Fangames" is needed.
Just remove all the fangame categories and leave everything in the "I Wanna Be The Guy" category" -

I don't like how it looks with "+" symbol, but it is still better than many separated categories.

This would be a very desirable change. The same community extends to all these games, and when a new face starts streaming one of them it is much more difficult for them to be discovered despite plenty of people generally being interested. It is far too much of a chore to click through several directories every time you want to check for new fangame streamers. Uniting them should help growth and in general make it far less tedious to navigate.

Not a big fan of this idea, because of this reason: Other communities that also primarily consist of fanmade edits of the game don't have that fangame prefix added to it. You don't see Super Mario World/Super Mario 64 + Kaizo Hacks or Minecraft + Modded. It's also like this on YouTube, where you can click on the IWBTG directory and it links you to various things of that game like fangames, speedruns, glitches, etc. It feels weird that the IWBTG directory needs to have this exception if you consider that other directories don't do this.
I can agree with removing certain games off Twitch, but Boshy might be a bit controversial for some. Out of that list I think Boshy plays the most different due to the different engine and it would suck if VODs or clips get removed for that game, unless Twitch can manage to have past VODs/clips to be moved on to the IWBTG directory.
Lastly, would there need to be a directory image change? Right now it just says I Wanna Be The Guy but would there need to be a "+ Fangames" added to make it more clear considering desktop Twitch cuts off the name unless you hover over it if the name's too long. You can take this as an idea if it gets mass support but in the end I wouldn't really mind the change.
Like I said before, I find this change to be rather weird where I'm half okay with it but the other half I'm not. If the idea does get through then I can feel happy for the community being happy with the change but it'll probably be a very small viewer boost in the long run.

as a long long time member of this community, i strongly believe that the fact that all of the hard work, care, and thought put in to all the games and work under the community, is all ONLY put under the category of an old, broken, poorly-designed 2007 "rage game", seems very disrespectful toward the soul that people put in for these games and projects, and it also does not do the community enough justice for how much thought and effort is put in toward the fangames and the community as a whole. We as a community are heavily based off of fangames and other similar projects related to said fangames, so I believe we should not be stuck under a category related only to a very primitive game with the intention of being low quality, but rather being inclusive to all of these community-related fangames and projects.
tl;dr add "+ Fangames" to the category title
