Unmerge All Remakes in the Directory
With a recent update, Twitch merged all remakes of games in the directory with its original game for whatever reason. Now remakes of popular franchises such as Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil, etc. are all fighting over visibility in the same directory. This is also a problem for remakes of games that have completely different names from its original game, such as Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land, the remake of Kirby's Adventure for NES released on GBA, who's directory is now completely gone because ????
I don't understand what the point of this change is. There was absolutely nothing wrong with remakes having their own game in the directory before, and now people who want to watch the remake of a game have to scroll through streams of the original game to find someone streaming the remake! Not to mention everyone following the remake on Twitch have to now follow the original to hopefully find people streaming the remake, which is just asinine. Furthermore, you can still stream to the directory of the remake, but it won't show up when you search the game itself any more. Seriously, who does this benefit? Remakes are the same game but entirely different in function and modernized at the time for a new audience. They are not supposed to be 1:1 with the original game, but merging the two games together like this says that you think otherwise in my eyes. What's next? Getting rid of the Crash and Spyro remake trilogies because there's directories for Crash and Spyro 1-3 already?
Twitch, I'm begging you, please reverse this change. As a speedrunner, visibility in the directory is everything, and now anyone who speedruns a remake will be getting less of it because they'll be fighting for it all in one category. I really just do not see the logic behind doing this at all, and I hope my reasoning makes sense here to whoever can make the decision to reverse it.

Update: we are now able to support a handful of new game types from IGDB, including remakes, remasters, expanded games, and forks – all new game types that have been introduced on IGDB (see the updated documentation at https://github.com/twitchtv/igdb-contribution-guidelines/wiki/Type)
This means that we can now restore nearly all of the titles that have been reported missing in this suggestion, and we are working to do so!
Thank you for your feedback and patience! We will close this suggestion for now, but please feel free to open new suggestions if there are additional games that you find are missing!

The creative tag is now gone! It’s now making and crafting! Which isn’t really how I feel I fit in? I’m not sure...not the best idea on twitch.

Please give Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated it's category back.

This merger has become the most confusing and dumb thing on Twitch. Please do fix this ASAP, it totally kills it when I want to search for a specific version of a game and I find myself flooded with reboots and remakes, which in most cases aren't even remotely the same game.

most of these changes should 1000% be reverted. pokémon gold and silver are now different categories, but Soul Silver and Heart Gold got merged into those categories too?
doom 1993 and doom 2016 are the same category now?
but Mario 3D All Stars remains a separate category despite literally being emulations of the original games lol
this is a problem for streamers too who are now being bombarded with many users saying “you’re playing soul silver but it just says silver” in their streams
PLEASE REVERT MOST OF THESE DECISIONS especially if it’s this inconsistent!

This is ridiculous. Half the games merged together aren't even remotely close to being the same. The pokemon remakes have so much more content, and DOOM 2016 isn't even a remake of the 90's game. SMH

Pokémon Heart Gold / Gold have widely different content, graphics and everything. It's now just "Gold". Gold and Silver are almost the same games. They have different categories.
This is a garbage change. What the hec.

Kinda WeirdChamp on Twitch's part, it's not like it does anyone harm having separate directories. I can see how it might help the games' growth in the short term, but I'd rather have two games with their own directories. We already have enough people asking someone playing BFBB if it's the remake, and I'm sure other games with newer remakes have the same issue.
An all-encompassing solution would be to have individual game directories and franchise directories. Maybe even genre directories.

Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes are completely different games than their originals. Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated deserves its own category. It's not like with WoW Classic and Retail WoW as being categorized under the same game.

why would you merge those games even though they are remakes they are still different games like come on each remake is a standalone game like BFBB & BFBBR those are 2 different games so they should get 2 different directories they are completely different speedruns as well so why would you merge them if they are completely different in a lot of ways

Why not have both?
I'm here with the Spongebob BFBB/BFBBR groupie.
First opinion is the two games should be their own entities. I know this topic doesn't only Apply to the Spongebob BFBB(R) games so maybe it gets a little harrier with other games series. But no matter what, I do fully believe that more options are better than less. I fully endorse an auto recommendation of "Oh well you enjoyed watching StreamerA who plays CoolGame2SeriesY, you should check out StreamerB who plays CoolGame3SeriesY." Also Users will still find both games in the search directory. But I still do think it would be cool to see both an all-encompassing search option as well as the individuals.
An example of this would be like:
Search: Halo
*First Result: The entire Halo series and if you click on it, any streamer streaming a Halo game would be presented*
*Second Result: Halo CE*
*Third Result: Halo 2*
... etc.Just an idea. Long story short. Bring back Spongebob Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated so that that community isn't forced to be in Spongebob Battle For Bikini Bottom's shadow, or vice versa.

I speedrun wwhd and it's pretty annoying for it to not be it's own thing, the speed runs for the original and remake are very different

I hope Rehydrated gets reinstated as a category on Twitch, because it is unfair that Twitch would merge it with the original game. Hopefully, me voting will help.

It's as simple as a person who is looking specifically for the remake of a game and it should be swiftly done by looking up its directory. Instead, Twitch says: just scroll through the original game's directory until you find one hurr durr... makes no sense whatsoever. This decision ultimately is a lose-lose with no thought put into it.

Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated built up a big following in its catagory before being taken away so suddenly by being merged with the original, both of which are two different games to a certain degree.

imagine removing all remakes then adding a mario 3d allstars category like why

The Resident Evil HD remake is basically a different game from Resident Evil and making a streamer put these games in the same category is absurd. This change removes a massive part of twitch's functionality and makes it basically unusable for people, considering now that content will get hidden in a category it doesn't belong in

It's absolutely nonsensical to have something like Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver merged with the original games they remade. This is an absolutely massive oversight and as a speedrunner of many old games/remakes of old games/pokemon games which you for some reason split categories for, it makes Twitch borderline unusable.

Yeah I support this, the sm64ds category got poofed out of existence and now I don't know where to stream my speedruns to since it's a completely different game than the og sm64.
