A new category : Twitch Education
Twitch should be allowed to be a place not just for entertainment, but also for learning and education. People who wants to stream educational content are currently not allowed to participate on Twitch, unless they are artists or programmers. Twitch is one of the largest streaming services, and while there is plenty of educational material on the internet, there is a lack of interactive, free to use services for interactive classes. Twitch could become a fantastic plattform for students, teachers and groups who wants to learn in a more interactive environment, that they can't get with other learning resources on the internet.

Why not allow those who want to teach what they know a venue in which to do so that is easier to find than surfing through IRL channels?

There are so many people who can teach and so many people who want to learn.

I wish this existed. Could have channels for Trades people who could give advice on home repair or do practice stuff for Trades licensing exams.

I think this is a great idea. There are people looking for education content, but it is hard to find because there isn't an obvious place to look. And, the places where you can look have a lot of content that isn't education related. IRL and Creative are the closest, but neither really fit the bill. An education channel would help educators, enthusiasts, and interested people find each other. This would also be very helpful for the faculty partners and advisors to college-affiliated teams use the platform.

Twitch has recently streamed both Mr. Rogers and Carl Sagan. Surely this content could anchor an educational channel in the same way that Bob Ross anchors the creative channel. There are educational streamers, but they wind up streaming in IRL.

This is a wonderful idea. Often I have found myself with a question in my learning and wondered if someone similarly interested experienced the same thought process and could discuss or even answer my difficulty. If I could learn socially online, I could potentially draw in a group of interested people from a variety of backgrounds and knowledge-bases who might learn from/with me while contributing data impacting my/our studies I might otherwise be completely unaware of.

I totally agree. Interactive learning is the way forward for education and Twitch could lead this or aid in the development of such a platform.

I agree Twitch could be a great platform for education, I just cant see there been the audience for it.
