A new category : Twitch Education
Twitch should be allowed to be a place not just for entertainment, but also for learning and education. People who wants to stream educational content are currently not allowed to participate on Twitch, unless they are artists or programmers. Twitch is one of the largest streaming services, and while there is plenty of educational material on the internet, there is a lack of interactive, free to use services for interactive classes. Twitch could become a fantastic plattform for students, teachers and groups who wants to learn in a more interactive environment, that they can't get with other learning resources on the internet.

For anyone looking at this now: The "Educational" and "Educational Game" category tags have been added. :) Comments below this one were posted before the tag was added.

I would like to propose that there be an alternative or addon regarding affiliate. I draw on what turbo and prime's features are, while wishing for features like channel points, reruns, longer expiration queue, and the option to not show ads or show them less - I think this would be worth a monthly Service to sub to when your channel is education focused. I would subscribe to it in order to take off ads or gain features that are currently unlocked at affiliate only. Just because, with education we are not there primarily for monetizing but would like to be a fully featured channel for our students.

In answer to @politelycynical: As this is originally a game title I am not sure if that is what we should do. It feels like the same situation as the people who are sleeping while streaming using the "I'm Only Sleeping" category (a point and click game). It is a creative approach, but do we really want to use it like this?

Hey guys, I've recently been using the category Educational Series: General Knowledge Builder. I think this is the category we've been hoping for?

The majority of my content is dedicated to education and teaching. It would be really helpful to have the appropriate category.

Our channel, Yeah_Science_Twitch, was born specifically for science communication. It's a pity not to have a category like "Education" or similar

It would open up a lot of possibilities for a lot of streamers with this category. It could be done just like how they did the Software and Game development, Music, Animals Aquariums Zoos and similar ones :D

Facts we need a category for educational stuff besides the tag. I teach constantly in my community besides playing. A great amount of my community is there for education more than gaming. The tag can just be there to help show people that theres educational streamers but the category shows that they got content focused on it.

The last year and a half was a much missed opportunity for Twitch in this area
There are so many streamers on the platform doing it now but are hard to find An Education category and subject tags would be a great addition
I've been thinking of arranging my setup so I could easily talk about and instruct on Physics and Math Especially after seeing how ill equipped schools and teachers are in not just online presentation but the technology used in it -

Yes! Can we have this?

We should definitely be thinking of alternative ways to teach the younger generation especially after how covid has already affected so many

Younger people are already on Twitch a lot. Why not provide educational resources that will speak to them on that platform?

This would be a very good thing to have for things like tutorial streams and even classes taught over twitch

you have so many animal/biology streamers who use your platform because we like what we can do with it! This would be great! I give weekly conservation chats and would love if i could put it in an education catagory! Those who stream similar content like i do have to shuffle between travel and outdoors or science and technology.
