A new category : Twitch Education
Twitch should be allowed to be a place not just for entertainment, but also for learning and education. People who wants to stream educational content are currently not allowed to participate on Twitch, unless they are artists or programmers. Twitch is one of the largest streaming services, and while there is plenty of educational material on the internet, there is a lack of interactive, free to use services for interactive classes. Twitch could become a fantastic plattform for students, teachers and groups who wants to learn in a more interactive environment, that they can't get with other learning resources on the internet.
The last year and a half was a much missed opportunity for Twitch in this area
There are so many streamers on the platform doing it now but are hard to find An Education category and subject tags would be a great addition
I've been thinking of arranging my setup so I could easily talk about and instruct on Physics and Math Especially after seeing how ill equipped schools and teachers are in not just online presentation but the technology used in it
Yes! Can we have this?
We should definitely be thinking of alternative ways to teach the younger generation especially after how covid has already affected so many
Younger people are already on Twitch a lot. Why not provide educational resources that will speak to them on that platform?
Please give us this! I frequently struggle with categories to stream under and this would help a lot!!
This would be a very good thing to have for things like tutorial streams and even classes taught over twitch
all for education!
you have so many animal/biology streamers who use your platform because we like what we can do with it! This would be great! I give weekly conservation chats and would love if i could put it in an education catagory! Those who stream similar content like i do have to shuffle between travel and outdoors or science and technology.
twitch education pepehands
Glimesh.tv already has a education channel so why don't you have one Twitch? HMMMM
With the pandemic winding down, I think this is the perfect time for Twitch to branch out into some educational content streams. People already flocked to things like Bob Ross streams or streamers watching cool science videos on stream. I'm an educator myself, and I'd love it if people were able to find my content more easily if they wanted to learn something! It would also be a headstart in competing with some other sites like Skillshare and Curiositystream that are popping up.
If I’m going to waste hours on twitch, might as well be able to find some educational streams and learn something while at it!
I would love to use Twitch to provide a space for going over educational topics that people struggled with in school. This would be a great category for me!
An educational category would be really useful! There are new educational streamers joining Twitch every day.
My content is specifically just my students and I learning about topics together. This would help out people who teach and want to show different topics rather than just Science and Technology. Its a win win cause the Science and Technology streamers don't have to be washed out by other streamers and the Edcuation Streamers and can have there own area to stream. I would even push for different topics in general. Why not have Math, Science, Art, History, PE, Music. TBH we already have some of these topics just add the rest of the curriculum, but for right now Education would be a good first step.
PS Also you already have categories of games that arent being played anymore that have no viewers at all so the excuse of "It won't be used a lot" is irrelevant.
This category would be great not only for instruction, but also people studying. Right now, study streams seem to be lost in the Just Chatting category, when IMHO the content is completely different.
The best place for my language study has been the Duolingo category because it has a growing community. But what if I'm using a different site or app? I don't want to get lost amongst the hot tub streams.
I’m not sure. I use the education tag for almost everything I do. I am not sure I would use a category specific to education. The craft that education is is already what twitch is - a place where you instruct interested audience about the topic / skill you do. Your activity.
Seems redundant, but I want to support your idea or your need, so I have a question - what do you mean by education is not allowed?
I would love to have this option for my education streams! I think education could be huge on Twitch as the platform expands beyond gaming.
Recently, I've been interested in education-related content. I noticed that Twitch doesn't have a category for it, but it has a category for politics. Would it be possible to create an education category as well? I find it difficult to sift through a general category to find education content. Please consider this.
Yes!! I've been teaching French on Twitch for one year and been craving a category like this!!
