Trans tag request
It is hard enough finding trans representation in our daily lives. With the LGBTQIA+ tag, one still needs to browse through channels and spend time in them to find trans streamers. A "trans" tag would help people searching for these communities.
Today we are rolling out 350+ tags, including the transgender tag, to provide you with more options on how you express yourself and your content, so that you can more easily connect with one another and build wonderful communities. We are really appreciative for all of the feedback around this topic (and other related suggestions).
We previously told you that we had a better solution to this request than adding the tag, and we were wrong. This has been one of the most popular requests we’ve heard, and the simple truth is that we should have done this sooner. In an effort to think carefully about how to best address this, we only made the situation more difficult. Again, thank you for helping us throughout this process in reevaluating our stance.
Please continue to share ideas and feedback you have to UserVoice, as well as any suggestions for additional tags you feel we may have missed! We are working to invest more into this forum and aim to have faster communications in the future.
Please check out our blog post for more info: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/

it's just a tag, i don't understand why it's so difficult to give trans creators what they're asking for. i don't understand why it's so difficult to LISTEN to your trans userbase.

Cowardly. This costs nothing to implement. What's not to share? Either you do it or you don't

It's got over 10x the votes of anything else in these categories, and you still haven't done it, whats the point of the voting system if you're just going to ignore it, even though it harms no one inherently

Aren't the whole purpose of tags to allow creators to flourish their streams with specifics so people looking for something specific like speedruns or LGBTQ+ folx can find them? Why are they so bloody restrictive that we have to beg for MONTHS for you guys to actually implement ONE TAG? This is one of the most requested tags all bloody year, add it

Just another day of requesting a Trans tag for the members of the community who would like to use it. Remember, just because a Trans tag exists, does not mean people MUST use it. Options are awesome.

As expected more lip service on why we twitch isn't adding the trans tag. Timestamps from 22 minutes - 26 minutes of the town hall.
You can't have an LGBT tag already on twitch without getting the attention it brings, adding an additional Trans tag doesn't change that, we already know.
By default we all have mod tools on twitch, they are built into Twitch. As other people including myself have posted in the comments.
Regardless of whatever "identity tags" you are adding in the future wont change that - we already know so why are you delaying it? Are you waiting until Jan 22 until you have an updated TOS? Any harassment brought to the Trans community is already TOS. -

This would be an amazing way to give trans folks a way to find others within their community. As has been brought up multiple times, the LGBTQIA+ tag does not make it easy to find trans streamers, and even members of that community can be transphobic. A trans tag would help immensely. Let's support our trans siblings!

I found a trans streamer who was talking on some things I was struggling with. This was found by a friend's suggestion, but I'd love to be able to naturally discover other amazing trans streamers with a tag like this.

This needs to be happen. I know you worry about trolling, but let us moderate our channels. To not do this just because of what others could do, is letting them win. Heck, maybe even work on those moderation tools (but don't delay this tag until those are done!)

the LGBTQIA+ tag is not enough to help us find other trans streamers. Not only do people use it as an ally (or sometimes even just to promote themselves when they are not an ally) but there are also LGB people who are transphobic. Many times we will go to a stream with the LGBTQIA+ tag to discover it is not a friendly place for us. We have over 4500 votes, over 500 comments, this needs to happen already.

Please provide a trans tag! Trans folks need visibility to build their communities and create space for other trans folks to feel safe and represented 🏳️⚧️

I really love this idea. As a trans man myself, being able to have this tag so I can also show that it’s a safe space for trans people alike is really important to me. I think it’s a great idea and I thank this community for bringing forward such a good thing!

The trans community is one of the most vulnerable, least-represented within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Having a trans tag would allow this community greater discoverability and also provide trans viewers & streamers with a way to more easily find welcoming, understanding, safe communities. For trans streamers & viewers, the LGBTQIA+ tag isn’t enough. Moreover, someone using the LGBTQIA+ tag does NOT ensure that they are a safe community for trans folks (i.e., a gay streamer could be transphobic, etc.). By having a trans tag, this community will be able to find safe communities more easily, and this change would also help uplift trans streamers and give them the visibility that these amazing streamers deserve.
