Trans tag request

It is hard enough finding trans representation in our daily lives. With the LGBTQIA+ tag, one still needs to browse through channels and spend time in them to find trans streamers. A "trans" tag would help people searching for these communities.

Today we are rolling out 350+ tags, including the transgender tag, to provide you with more options on how you express yourself and your content, so that you can more easily connect with one another and build wonderful communities. We are really appreciative for all of the feedback around this topic (and other related suggestions).

We previously told you that we had a better solution to this request than adding the tag, and we were wrong. This has been one of the most popular requests we’ve heard, and the simple truth is that we should have done this sooner. In an effort to think carefully about how to best address this, we only made the situation more difficult. Again, thank you for helping us throughout this process in reevaluating our stance.

Please continue to share ideas and feedback you have to UserVoice, as well as any suggestions for additional tags you feel we may have missed! We are working to invest more into this forum and aim to have faster communications in the future.

Please check out our blog post for more info: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/

I'd love to see some representation for our community, Twitch!

Get this added, we all know how simple it would be, support those who would use the tag and punish those who abuse those who use it, just like you should do be doing with all the other tags.

It's been two years. So many of us have CONTINUED to ask for this. It's time for a trans tag.

now's a good time for the tag, twitch. "anti-harassment" reasoning isn't solid.

  • Gabbus13 commented  ·   ·  Report

This conversation is now two years old and a good reason to not implement it has not been given. "Anti-harassment" reasoning won't work when marginalized people are 1) attacked online anyway without identity tags and 2) the ones asking for the tags since they have weighed the pros/cons themselves.

Please add this tag. Up your spam/anti-harassment policies anyway, since that's its own problem on Twitch.

I don't even have any arguments left to make. We've made them over the last almost 900 comments. But here's another comment saying it's a really Douche move to just ignore us forever.

Add the trans tag! We need the inclusion of our trans siblings! They have deserved it for their bravery and their right to be noticed!

You have cited "we feel there might be a better solution to handle this with more care", but what is that better solution? It has been two years now and as someone who streams in the LGBT tag on twitch, I have not seen you reach out to trans creators in the community and yet we have 800+ comments on this thread which includes those from trans creators asking for this tag.

Twitch, you need to stop being p*ssies and CREATE THE TAG finally!

Hmmm it's only been 2 years since this request was made. I wonder when the trans community will be respected by twitch.

Oh it's only been 2 years since this request was posted, well I'll see everyone next year when Twitch once again fails to do anything of value for marginalized communities, can't wait!
