Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

Why would you guys get rid of something for "low usage" when it wasn't even rolled out to everyone? Like think about that, does that make any sense. BarbarousKing for example is a big partnered streamer who averages 4k viewers and he didn't even get access to the moments feature. Imagine how much of a game-changer it would be for his channel just like it was when everyone received Channel Point Predictions.
You guys opt to remove features people at large enjoy and actually use like hosting, moments and friends list in favor of **** nobody wants to use like hyperchats and live reactions. Are you TRYING to best YouTube in actively making your site worse?

Twitch executives stop being completely out of touch with the userbase challenge: Difficulty Level IMPOSSIBLE. Seriously, please consider actually getting feedback from your userbase for once instead of blindly deciding things that most of them don't want. Moments are cool as heck for the two streamers that actually got to use them, and even more people will agree that they're cool as heck if more than two streamers get to use them!

I didn't even realize I was part of the rollout for Moments until I went to go see if I even had it at the news of this announcement.

I've never been able to experience Moments which is a real shame, it sounds like they add even more fun to the experience.
What better way to engage chat than to use moments to literally drag your viewers in and get them invested into the stream?
Big agree that the beta was far, far to limited and many creators who could have really benefitted from it never got to try it.
It's the sort of feature that really NEEDS to exist.
Keep Moments!!

Small time streamers, big time streamers, they all want to interact with their audience as it is part of being a streamer, definitely not everyone has 50k+ viewers with a unreadable chat which is a collection of spammed keywords anyways.
For the streamers that interact big time with their audience, moments is probably the most important thing besides subscriptions, it shows who are the loyal die hards of the streamer's chat, which in all honesty means more than a sub badge to me, certain moments in life should be cherished, and some moments should also be memorized. There is absolutely no reason for moments to be removed from twitch as it has the capability to both be interactive with the streamer, as well as building something like 'nostalgic moments' to which we can all look back at and go "do you guys remember this awesome moment?"I would post ChatGPT's reason on why moment's should be kept, but i don't feel like taking up all the space where people to comment.

This is a really cool feature, and a good surprise for a viewer when we get a moment badge. -

100% agree with the proposal here! For streams that I frequent that have the Moments feature, it's a real community builder and users wear the moments badges with pride. It's perplexing to me why this is being pulled for limited use when it was never rolled out to all streamers, is limited in use per month, and there was limited mention of the feature when it was released. Don't kill yet another feature that streamers and users are using - enhance it!

I've watched moments become the internal part of the humor/comradery of some streamer's communities and know plenty of other streamer's that I watch who's chats would love the addition of moments to their community.

I don't have the option to be on twitch to catch all the moments, but when I do get to claim some it feels great to be a part of the Moment! It is such a fun addition please don't get rid of them.

I learned about Moments' existence as a test feature just recently with discussion from other streamers I follow who wish they'd have had a chance to use it. Only one streamer I visit regularly has them, but when you're there for a Moment, it really feels like an event. A game defeat, a record broken, a big purple guy with a questionable milkshake, it adds to already momentous occasions, and it's great that you can *browse them*, too. Be like, "Oh, dang, I was there for that!" and recall it fondly.
The biggest thing I've seen around it is a marketing issue. Features like these need to be introduced to streamers and viewers alike. It's not like viewers will make streamers who don't use them pariahs, but when a feature *does* get used, they'll recognize and appreciate it more. 90% of what I've learned from Twitch's interface has come from the mouth of either the streamers or other viewers I interact with. Moments works fine, it's definitely a fully enjoyable feature, it's just been badly conveyed to the Twitch audience. Give it a real chance, let people know about it, I guarantee, it will take off and be a beloved channel feature everywhere.

I honestly didn't know about moments until earlier this year, but after interacting with a couple of stream communities that have moments enabled, I think they are actually a really cool feature and implementation of the community interface and I think it would be a great shame to flat out get rid of the feature when they could have just been better implemented and integrated. Every community I see using moments embraces them as a fun feature and I think that could definitely be great for strengthening smaller communities around truly unforgettable happenings, or....moments...if you will.
And lastly....what a MOMENT!

The fact that the community has to come together to ask for them not to remove a feature we like, shows just how out of touch Twitch is. Does this feature even cost them a meaningful amount of money? Why remove it? Does Twitch just like having the community think they are a bunch of clowns? If so, mission accomplished. Good job.

I think that removing the moments badge is simply shooting yourself in your own foot. Moments are a fun and engaging part of a twitch community and helps people want to stick around longer and attend more streams. Twitch moment badges is a way to show that you have been to important streams and support the streamer even if you don't have money to sub.
