Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

Imagine removing a feature for "low use" when you never rolled it out for EVERYONE! Keep moments

I only used this feature as a viewer and even still I think that Moments were an excellent addition to the Twitch experience. It feels good being present during important events for streams, but having a dedicated feature for it feels right, too. I think about Moments still existing 2-3 years from now and how much fun it would be going through the older events for stream and have it all in one place. I feel like the general argument that they are glorified clips seems disingenuous because they are more about community than anything else. Please reconsider!

This was one of the coolest features I've seen Twitch come out with in a long time, and I've been waiting eagerly for a long time to get this on my channel. But to hear it's being cute just was a major bummer. This is so perfect for speedrun streams as just one example to relate to what I stream. Finally got a long-awaited PB? That's a moment. World record even?? Definitely a moment to remember. Don't axe this. Do better, Twitch.

I really love these little moments, that creators can make into something special. I hope it is reconsidered to remove them but instead make them more accessible with a broader base of creators to use them and talk about them. Until a creator mentioned them in their stream I didn't even know they exist. If you put out something nice, you gotta talk about it more often!

I honesty idon't believe that you gave this It's fair chance and I believe that if you did, it would be proven very useful and admired by creator and viewer alike. You can't kill something off without giving it an actual fair chance

Was genuinely in shock when I heard this was getting removed. I've been begging Twitch to give it to more channels since it first launch, it's such a cool feature and would integrate perfectly with their new emphasis on clips browsing. Giving moments some priority in the clip browser would be so cool and would make them feel even more like genuine experiences. But no, of course not, instead they just remove them. Why? Did they even give a reason beyond "we didn't give it to anyone so no one used it"?

Let’s keep moments! They’re fun and actually make Twitch a fun place! There is absolutely no reason to remove them and everyone here wants you to keep them.

probably one of the best features they added in recent memory, insane to get rid of it before giving it a fair shake (aka actually giving more than 5% of streamers access to it)

On 'moment nights' I experience a much higher viewer count than normal. These fun badges have been amazing at bringing in viewers, and keeping them around for longer during the night, waiting for just the right moment. Getting rid of these moments feels like removing something special that we have shared with the community and removes that part where I can give back to them something small to say 'thanks for being here'.
Please do not take away our moments.
