Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

Moments are super fun and can be very funny depending on how they're used! They provide meaningful incentive to watch and engage in someone's stream so that they can say that they were there. And that's not even mentioning the funny memes of the chat asking "Moment?" whenever just about anything happens.
I love this feature, and it's probably one of the best ones Twitch has had in recent memory.

Just want to say, moments have been such a fun experience in the streams that do use it. Some of the best iateyourpie moments have been moments, and it was nice to receive something for these moments.

As a viewer, moments got me significantly more active with the streamer and my viewer hours reflect that. Much like channel points, moments when used well I feel bring a lot to table as far as engaging with twitch actively.

As a streamer and a viewer, Moments seemed like a very fun idea. It incentivized watching the streamer a bit more actively and interacting with and it allowed the viewer to share in the big MOMENTS with the streamer. Getting the badge for how many moments you've been there for was also a fun thing that encouraged you to watch that streamer more to maybe get more!
From the streamer side it added a lot of engagement, like watching Pie he has his pieMoment emote. It adds this fun way to get those clips out there just like featured clips and go "Hey look at this Moment that [Streamer] had!" and also to memorialize hype moments like beating a challenge run or for getting a PB in a speedrun or reaching a milestone in a charity event.
As a streamer myself, I really really wanted these Moments to be spread around to other streamers, even eventually to affiliates so I can use them. Being able to share fun moments of the stream that were separated into its own category would be huge! Being able to point to a collection and go "There's the hype moments that have happened in the past year" for viewers is an amazing tool as well
While I'm not the most amazing at putting my thoughts to words, I definitely want these to stick around. It's one of the few features I've seen that I desperately want for my channel. It's not in a perfect state but its not that far off from being an extremely good tool and just requires a bit of tweaking here and there on visibility. The core concept is there, it's solid, it's amazing, and most importantly people like it!!! I can't stress enough that people liking this feature is HUGE!
Please don't get rid of Moments.

Moments were so good for chat engagement and encouraged people to hang around and see what might happen - what might be "moment-worthy".

Personally I love Moments, it's always fun to click on the badge every once in a while and remember those small funny/cool moments that happened in the community that I was there for. It also encourages viewers to keep coming back to the stream to have a visible reward for their loyalty outside of subscriptions. Honestly it was one of the features I was most excited to eventually get when I became an Affliate because it helps me see who among my viewers are my most dedicated and good options to pick for gift subs, VIP badges, or potential mods. A lot of streamers weren't aware of them in the first place, combined with the limited rollout, leading to the low engagement from the streamer community, not from lack of interest. Please reconsider, this is one of the best features that Twitch has implemented in a long time.

Imagine not understanding customer Op's and realizing people enjoy engagement and engagement leads to more sales and more cash in your pockets. This leads to engagement, which leads to sales, which leads to money, and this could very well be sustainable profits. People want reasons to stay and watch and throw money at streamers, and this is a great way to do so, just promote it a bit, that is all, don't scrap it.

Moments were incredible and fun when available. I think they should be enabled for all channels, if not then at least affiliates or above. It feels like a part of Twitch like channel points or gambling at this point
