Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

i'd like to have seen a variety of moment types such as 'gaming', 'comedy', 'rage', 'success', 'failure', 'community', 'personal' and 'charity' to allow streamers to have achieved clips and moments to promote themselves and their stream in particular areas to showcase why they're a good choice for both viewers and sponsors.

The most hype thing in a lot of streams is being there when something big happens! Moments just make this all the more fun!

Similar to Google sending memories with your photos, moments is a fun reminder to look back - and then offers a way to connect with others or the streamer on awesome times in the past.
It encourages me to keep building those times in the channels I'm in. Please keep it!

Like channel points, moments increase viewer engagement, driving up ad revenue / bits, subs, etc.
Getting rid of Moments will be a loss of income! It does bring in revenue, it's just difficult to measure! -

Dear Twitch,
Please don't take moments away, I love them in the chats. Roll them out instead of the limited number of channels. They are so fun, they get the community going, how each streamer uses them is really fun. Twitch, you would legit be taking a way a fun thing and making your website worse.
Rather than taking away moments go in full on it. Give streamers/mods more options. Give more moments per month. The communities I'm in LOVE moments. Please, please, please, don't take them away

I'm normally a lurker in most streams but moments is one of the most fun ways to join a chat. It's nice to see everyone who was there get excited and proudly apply their moment badge. I don't understand why you would get rid of a feature that so healthily encourages community and engagement.

Dear Twitch,
Please remove your head from your own ***. When you do, you will realize that moments is one of the best features you've come up with in years. Viewers go crazy for these things. Chat constantly trying to turn everything into a moment is hilarious and when a moment actually does happen, the excitement in chat is enormous. It's a level of engagement that I've only seen one other feature on Twitch come close to (channel point predictions). Viewers take great pride in their moment badges and want to stick around so they don't miss a moment. Being able to click on your moment badge and instantly relive any moments you were there for is another brilliant aspect of this feature.
The only thing I would change about moments is on the backend for the streamer. Allow streamers more than 24 hours to edit the moment and allow moments to be longer than a minute.
Getting rid of moments would be a huge mistake. Honestly, you should probably fire whoever made this decision because they're so obviously out of touch with the platform they work on. You should be going the other way with this and rolling out moments to all streamers while making an announcement about it (maybe a pop-up in the creator dashboard?) to increase awareness.
Good luck.

As a stream lurker who's rarely brave enough to interact with chat, Moments were always exciting and even I found myself racing to the keyboard to cheer and interact with people when a Moment happened, or even when it just seemed like one might happen. The community aspect of Moments seems obvious to me. Plus the appeal of collecting them. It would be a shame if the feature disappeared for no real reason, and I think thousands would miss it.
