[Test] First Participation Highlight in Creator/Mod Chat
Some creators will notice a new first-time chatter highlight is now available in chat. This feature lets creators and their mods identify and welcome newcomers in chat to their community when appropriate. The highlight is only available to creators and their mods in chat and is not displayed to the rest of your community. This feature is in a limited release, and we will monitor feedback before making it more widely available.
Creators and their mods are enrolled in the limited release automatically, and they can toggle the feature on and off in chat settings under "First Time Chat Highlight."
We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions here. We look forward to hearing your feedback!
We are happy to announce that the First-Time Chatter Highlight is now available to all creators and mods! You can learn more about this feature at the below link. Thank you all for your feedback!

Great idea! Now if only there was a way to get rid of all the bots that trigger it asking me if I want to be famous…

I love the new feature. It is very helpful. I value new viewers and care about giving them proper attention, and I hate it when I forget/miss their messages. This feature just did it for me. It solved my problem and my concerns.
I was running a giveaway today, and a lot of the new viewers joining chat were typing !giveaway or !tickets. Since these messages were not targeting me, so it would be nice if they did not show up as a new first-time chatter. I don't know if there is a way to improve this but... It's just a suggestion anyways.
I love the new featured and I'm 100% satisfied with it. Nice job, thanks Twitch/Dowski, and thanks for using my channel for tests, you can count on me for that.
Be safe.

What if it’s only made available to the streamer? So they can be extra inviting and make them feel welcome?

I like the idea but I'm with a ton of others. My anxiety level will be over 9000 if everyone knows I'm new and it would cause me to end up just leaving the chat.

I hate this, to be honest. This would actively stop me from chatting in new streams and I think a lot of people who also suffer from anxiety around new places/people would feel the same way.
Maybe there could be different options for who sees it? Entirely off, Entirely Public so everyone sees it, or Custom where you can choose specific people who can see it. This way everyone gets the option they like, and it'd be useful for streamers who could set mods to see the new message so they can be extra nice but without the public 'calling out' for being new?
