[MERGED] Bring back colored /me chat messages + Update the /me command to color chat messages FOR MODS/BROADCASTER ROLES ONLY
Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.

Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

Coloured Text was far better for the user in separating bot messages from actual chatters and the italics are visually offensive. Change it back, no one asked for this, twitch.

You could have just removed this option for "normal" viewers and leave it to bots and moderators.
Bring back colored messages for mods!

Italics are incredibly difficult for people who already have reading difficulties as it is. please bring back the coloured text

I had no idea uservoice even existed until finding out about this change. I for one have never see /me used for abuse and it is a core part of how the community's I'm in communicate. Removing it without warning is honestly just insulting and disrespectful to viewers, moderators and streamers alike.

Colored chat messages were a perfect tool for streamers and mods to highlight important messages or do announcements. Please bring them back or let streamers decide to change this option.

Did you guys even cast a single thought before removing this? Geniuses......

If you want to have it Italic, do so, but still keep it coloured so it does stand out more.

I agree that it should be a feature that can be toggled on or off that way everyone is empowered.

This change proves that Twitch don't see us as part of the platform community.
They make changes for a few elite who are disconnected from the wider revenue-generating community.

This is one of the many useless changes that just made things worse. It's like whatever the community says just gets ignored on purpose.

This was really essential for busy streams to help highlight donation links, shout outs, etc.
Tonight with even a slower stream, the donation links were buried instantly. Multiple people had to ask where they were.
PLEASE just make it an option to turn off or toggle vs. just taking it away. The italics look awful in chat and every single one of my bot/mod commands were set up to have the /me. Breaking a feature like this without warning meant I spent over an hour today trying to fix them.
Sure, it's a silly thing to be sad about, but I'm genuinely disappointed that this happened. It really had a pretty negative affect on my charity stream and links today. :/

The /me has been part of the IRC chat client since FOREVER! It's a very cool tradition to maintain, and allows for a more custom, colorful and PROUD community. Imagine not adding Trans tags, or other identity/community based tags that over 9k people are asking for, and getting rid of Rainbow Raids when like less than 100 people whined about distractions... And you wonder why we don't feel respected by Twitch.

I thought the original intent of /me was that the colored text was an extension of the already colored username to help provide emphasis for describing actions that cannot be easily spoken without sounding like an antisocial robot, while implying that the default black/white color when you type something in chat normally is a written/verbal expression.
Italics implies emphasis on part of a written/verbal statement. This change to /me sucks out the fun in describing actions in chat because it removes the subtlety of having your message be directly connected to the color of your username.
This combined with the fact that you can only use slash commands at the start of your message and not at any point like how anyone would use italics when typing something anywhere else (e.g. Word Document) makes this change even more bizarre, because this implies the entire message needs to be emphasized with italics so the reader can give their attention to it.
The slanted appearance on an entire message makes it uglier and harder to read especially when chat is moving quickly, not to mention there are already channel point reward options that let users highlight the space surrounding their messages, that do not alter the physical structure of the words, and aside from requiring channel points to use, are more accessible in appearance and use.
This decision reeks of either incompetency or generating artificial outrage. Please bring back /me as it was before and improve your marketing research department before making a decision like this without warning again.

Twitch should have added 'donated' to the Bullying Auto-Mod, and the problem is solved.
Anyone who wanted the word, which is no-one, could have re-added it to the approved word list.
Save /me #me

I'd be happy for it to go back to colour for everyone, not just mods. The italics are just blah. I regularly use /me on Nightbot announcements for my streamers too and italics doesn't pop nearly as much as colour.

this change sucks, they should've just made it mod / streamer only coloured messages.

Please at least give us the option to choose what we want in our own streams. Having bots use coloured text make that chat much more clear and easy to read, and also rainbow raids are fun!
