Limiting participation in chat based on account creation date
To help reduce the blatant and increasing violations of the harassment policy on Twitch, you should implement a new feature that allows a channel to prevent users from participating in their chat if the account is under a certain age, which could be specified specified by the channel.
Currently, it's easy for a user to create temporary email and Twitch accounts and harass a live streaming account under the guise of anonymity. This would add a much needed barrier to entry without requiring a user to follow or subscribe to be apart of a channel. The code currently exists for this feature regarding followers, and this feels like a natural next step for Twitch to help protect their creators.
Hello everyone! Apologies for missing this post - but good news! Now creators can enable phone/email verification for a designated amount of time to verify their chatters.
You can find more information in our blog: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/09/29/securing-your-chat-with-phone-and-email-verification/
Thank you all for the feedback!

This is a fantastic idea, and would really limit trolls/bots ability to harass streamers and chats.

As a victim of trolls making 1000s of accounts to force my chat into follower only mode, I would love a feature like this. Great idea!

Please create the option for an *account age* chat restriction (similar to follower only mode) so streamers can restrict newly created accounts from trolling/harassing in chat.
When necessary, brand new Twitch accounts could be restricted from chatting by allowing the streamer to pick the length of time accounts need to have been created for before they can chat. (24 hrs, 7 days, 14 days etc).
This would potentially be even more effective at dealing with certain types of harassment compared to a 10 min+ follower only mode because it would allow for the average twitch viewer to still interact with a stream that they perhaps don't follow while still protecting the streamer from someone making new accounts for harassment purposes.

Spam bots and Trolls in chat constantly harass streamers with new accounts and get around the bans using VPNs or other tools, Follower only and Sub only modes can discourage new viewers from participating in the chat and can Stunt channel growth. Please allow a new feature which prevents brand new accounts from talking in chat, or more precisely, a feature which requires the account to be x days old before they are allowed to talk in the chat. That way new viewers who have been on Twitch for a while can discover new channels and participate in the chat while trolls who specifically target streamers have to wait days, weeks or months before they can do anything in the chat.

I would love to see this extended to 24hrs to be counted in viewer numbers, and 1 hour to chat.
I feel this would also limit the bot accounts, people swapping accounts to harass, etc.

yes this is exactly what kripp's chat needs, please code this tomorrow and implement asap. The amount of work this would save me is insane I have a notepad full of everyones ban evading accounts and i have to connect the dots to prove theyre the same person when reporting them. The number of ppl that ban evade in kripps chat is very high its like they have no care in the world that they got banned oh ill just make another account and be back in chat before mellen can even gather all the evidence and report my old account. Ban evaders, brother, im sick of them

I mean only way you can be against this is if you intend on creating throw aways and trolling right? This sounds great to me would make modding a lot easier for me.
