Game Category bugs
Whenever I play a game then switch to a new category, it changes and even when I refresh the page it changes correctly, but when I go back and view the VOD, the category doesn't change at all but it does say there are different chapters. When I clip something, for example something in VALORANT, the clip says i'm playing ARK even though the chapter says it's the VALORANT chapter and the game category was changed to VALORANT.

That sounds frustrating — Twitch’s VOD metadata can sometimes lag or not sync properly with real-time changes. I’ve seen similar issues while managing tech content. If you are into Apple devices and gaming, check out Sell Your Mac UAE — we help gamers and creatives upgrade with ease in Dubai.

Can you separate more obviously games that have similar name so they do not go in one category ? Something like Dead space ( remake) and Dead space (2008) they often miscategorized or Prototype(2009 from activision) and Prototype ( indie game).

In Nulls Brawl, if you notice that game categories don’t update correctly in VODs or clips despite being changed during gameplay, it could be due to a delay or mismatch in how the platform processes category changes. To fix this, ensure you manually save or confirm the category change before switching games. For accurate VOD chapters and clip metadata, refresh the streaming software or platform after making a change. If the issue persists, check for updates to your streaming platform or report the problem to their support team for resolution.

I’m having the same issue! When I switch game categories while streaming, it shows the correct game during the live stream, but when I check the VOD later, it still says the old category. Even though it shows different chapters, clips I make from games like VALORANT end up saying I'm playing ARK. It’s frustrating because everything seems fine during the stream, but it doesn’t reflect correctly in the VODs. Anyone else experiencing this?

It seems like there's a bug where the game category isn't updating correctly in VODs and clips, even though chapters reflect the correct game. For example, if you switch from ARK to VALORANT, the category might still show ARK in clips. Hopefully, this gets fixed soon!

I often encounter bugs in different game categories, but I find it helpful to learn about them for overall knowledge. Reading interesting game blogs is a great way to stay informed. The last time I streamed, I played SMITE on my PS4
Today, I tried to stream The Forest from my PS5
The twitch stream did not accept the title I entered when I opened the stream from my PS5.
Instead, it kept the last stream's title. It also kept the SMITE category. And when I tried to change it, it would not load. I typed The Forest, and literally all I got was that dumb loading symbol that went nowhere.
I then had to awkwardly navigate the site (really not user friendly in my opinion by the way - I can't get to my dashboard from certain points? The drop down navigation changes between pages) to get back to the video producer section, so I could delete the video with the incorrect information so that I don't get reported.

I encountered a similar situation when I was attending an event in Japan. The game category was Super Scribblenauts. I was in the exact same situation as you, the topic owner of the idea, and the other commenters, and even after repairing it, the game category reverted to not showing up (blank).
Many streamers know that it is possible to change the name of the game category using methods other than the steaming software, such as by entering commands with mod permissions. However, it is useless if it is undone.
I contacted twitch. As a result, I got an answer that the same problem exists in several games, and I was told to write a detailed report about the situation here. (And that's how I found this topic)To my surprise, it was a deep-rooted problem that has existed since June of 2020 (what a surprise!).
Thank you.

Hello there,
I have a similar problem with creating chapters.
The difference is, that Twitch does not set chapters in VODs.When I change categories, it shows the actual category live but there are no chapters on VOD.
Is there any solution?
Thank you.

When a Twitch Steamer is playing a game, his friends show up, he changes games. Then he will change the title.
PROBLEM, the people viewing the steam will see the old game title.IDEA - software should update the title in the app
Otherwise, every conversation goes something like this, "Just refresh. idk, refresh. Refresh it. Twitch won't refresh. Refresh please, changing." "Why are you still playing 12345?" "I'm not, refresh."
