Allow streamers to give channel points to viewers/entire chat
The channel points right now are just based on streaks and time spent in a chat. What would make it perfect is the ability to award your viewers or entire chat with an amount of points you choose as well. If it were possible to award points yourself in addition to the twitch integrated method of earning points it would be perfect.
For example:
-I could choose to award the whole chat 100 points each when we get raided.
-I could choose to award a specific viewer 50 points for telling the best joke.

I would like there bonuses for people who follow or sub to my channel, and maybe they will be tempted to chat when they first follow.

I posted this idea like 4 years ago i doubt they plan on doing anything with this.

This would allows for much more engaging interactivity between the streamer and the viewer.
If it is considered in the streamer's best interest to encourage subscriptions to the channel, better control on channel point distribution (and/or bit rewards by that extension) is in twitch's interest.
We need more than simply 2x the rate for subscribers. If the concern is gambling, this is already done on channels with simple chat commands and/or custom extensions.

Hi, does anyone know if they've implemented this amazing idea? If they haven't done it yet it's a real shame ...

YES! This should have been done long ago. Ridiculous that I cannot donate channel points to great viewers.

I wanna award viewers for winning bingo in my chat, or for making me lose in a game from using my "let go of keyboard" sound alert. Viewer/streamer interactions are endless with this! Plus it helps the viewers who can only support through watching and not subbing. Gives EVERYONE something nice

This is a great idea for more interaction. Please make this possible!

This could be even used for Predictions, with the Streamer or a Mod setting up a bonus of Channel Points that will go to the people who win the prediction.

It is a smart thing to do. Because you don’t always get channel points when just watching the stream. I think it should have been done sooner.

Tonight I was in someone's stream for almost 2 hours and didn't receive any channel points. And I'm saving up for 1 mil channel points, so every little bit matters to me. This was an error on Twitch's part. And I understand that these things happen because, well, technology... but for real when something like this happens, it would be real nice if the streamer could make up for that error. Because it's not like Twitch needs to deal with this kind of stupid hassle. Give us the right to manage our points. Completely. It's not like it's affecting Twitch's bottom line. It should be able to be controlled by the streamer or the mods of that channel. Thank you!

I think this is such a good idea, it could help a lot for streamers that focus on minigames communities, where they can award points that can later be used for other rewards.
This is also a good idea for dev streamers that want to award points through the apps that use the API.

I think this should be a thing, and not only available to the streamer, but to their mods to have the ability as well to do so.
Streamer themselves is tied up in a game, hears/sees something funny in chat, but can't get to the chatbox to input the command of /givepoints [username]/[chat] <amount> to award either a viewer or all of chat the amount of channel points.
If the streamer has a good set of mods, all they need to do is ask the mods to give out channel points as well. If the streamer doesn't want their mods to abuse this, this setting could be turned off in the Channel Points section of Creator Dashboard.
One might even go farther with this, and say any banned users in a streamer's channel should have all of their accumulated points be put into a separate pool for the streamer to then disperse to the rest of chat as they see fit.

As a streamer I have full control over the options and prices on how viewers can spend their channel points. It would be resonable that I also have control over how they are earned. It is currently impossible to manage the economy of channel points in the community, which is often an issue in setting costs considerting longtime and new viewers.
With channel points only beeing valid in my own channel, there are no impacts on other channels how ever I decide to grant or demand points. One could argue against it that the experience of earning points changes across Twitch, which is true. But the experience of spending points is already individual to the channel.
Is there a financial reasoning behind it since this might reduce the power of cheers? Cheers do have a controlled economy via the currency value, which makes them much easier to manage. I could imagine that some applications could switch from using bits and currency to channel points once they can control them. Yet, as uncontrollable channel points are now, they miss a lot of potential.
I would prefer to have full control on channel points including granting and taking points.

why is that an issue for you?

Its ok! I use tiktok now, and it allows me to add manually channel points (especially for my 3 biggest supporters who donated in les than a year +80.000€, 40.000€ and 35.000€) so Please close this toppic before twitch become more attractive to streamers 🫡👌🏻

edit: If you wanna give free points: for stuff, price your stuff right. On stream with your request with # points cost isn't gonna make your better, sorry. Talk with your community maybe?

I just became an affiliate and thought this was already a thing - so sad it's not, would definitely leverage this to increase engagement.
