IGDB

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  1. Adding a Full/Partial Controller Support column for titles in the database.

This would be monumental for indexing games that can be played from the couch or not.

  2. I feel like there should be a general category for certain series. Such as Zelda, Mario, Megaman, RE, Digimon all under one catergory instead of individual games(unless they are a new). IGDB already implements this under what they call "Collections."

What do you think? People who play older titles but are a part of said series' community would be more in their line of audience. It's better than having them spread out in random places like Retro or Just Chatting. So instead of having massive communities around certain games, whether they are thriving or dying, you can have a continuous…

  3. I'd like for twitch to make a category for Genma Onimusha. Onimusha Warlords got re-release in 2002 known as Genma Onimusha. I saw almost all Onimusha games but this.

This game is exclusive to Xbox and can be played in Xbox360 as backward compatible.

There is been a lot of misunderstanding on this game when I reached out IGDB to amend changes. I was told to reach out here via UserVoice, If I want this game to have its own category in twitch.

Although, I also want to stress and clarify that this game is not a port but a…

  5. 3D view of game covers, being able to view the front, sides and back sides.
Could be nice when having many regions and scanned images of all sides of a box art.

Hey! For now we’re focusing on a single cover standard. Which we’ll then expand to other regions to be able to cover more types of users for this standard.

Once we have good coverage of those we may start looking at additional aspects such as sides, back of cover etc..

    Thanks!

  6. Multiple selectable choices which defines what kind of distribution the game have:

    – Physical media: big box, jewel case only, DVD, paper sleeve etc.
    – Digital

  8. game released in 2015 with the title mortal kombat x mobile has undergone a name change over the years, so the game cannot be found to be able to stream with it, that makes the community even lower.
2 days ago I tried to enter the game into the database but since it is registered, said action was denied, but if it is registered, why is it not in the "Mortal Kombat x MOBILE" category?

  9. ELSPA was the rating system used in EU before the PEGI system replaced it.

Degrees of ratings can be found here:

Hey! We have decided that it would be very interesting to have the ELSPA ratings on IGDB and we would like to add it in the near future. We we probably bundle a couple of new age ratings together and add it sometime next year.

  10. 6% of males and ~0.4% females have color blindness. A good number of games feature a colorblind mode (Forza 5 for instance). Many don't and have nearly unplayable sections as a result.
When I'm looking for a game, one of my greatest concerns is with color-coded information. If it exists, I need to see it in action, and if it's red-green or any other combination that is a problem, I need to know if I can change it. If I can't change it, I'll usually pass.

    Some examples:
RTSs sometimes use red and green icons on minimaps - literally any…

    Hello!

This is a great suggestion thank you! Actually the timing couldn't be more ideal, as we are in fact investigating how we could tackle accessibility data in games, which would cover Colour Blindness of course.

This might be a long process (no ETA unfortunately), but something we are very interested in indeed :)

    Thank you!

  15. A bit of a smaller suggestion, but I think it's a pretty vital one. The storyline description functions as a hook of sorts that attracts players to the game, just as much as the Description and Screenshot sections. I find it counterintuitive that the storyline is buried all the way to the bottom of the page... it should be more visible, in my opinion. i.e. both physical game boxes and game pages on online storefronts like PSN or Steam have game descriptions, storyline descriptions , and images all located close together because they're all important aspects to pull gamers in.

  17. Currently, IGDB provides all the current CERO age ratings [A, B, C, D, Z], but not the pre-March of 2006 ratings [ALL, 12, 15, 18], which the organization still considers.

  18. Games' ratings may be skewed or conflicting if they have wildly different ports.

For example, "The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning" has its console ports, which are fundamentally the same, but it also has a 2D side-scroller port for GBA, and an isometric port for DS; both vary greatly (especially the GBA port) from the console release. Another example is Shrek 2, where the PC port is effectively an entirely different game from the console ports (and the matching PC port was called "Shrek 2: Team Action!")

Metacritic already separates game ratings by every port, and imo that's how…

    Hey there!

You are 100% correct on this :) We would consider the GBA, DS, and DS releases as Ports in the sense they deserve their own pages on IGDB so they can be rated & reviewed individually.

This is indeed a perfect example for ports. In this case it’s simply that we haven’t got around to split the releases and clean up the data.

Thanks for pointing it out, we’ll get right on it!

Dropping the link to our guidelines Ports just in case as well: https://github.com/twitchtv/igdb-contribution-guidelines/wiki/Game-Types

  19. Since there are reasons for duplicated not been removed quickly, I suggest providing a way to quickly link from a duplicate to it's original. I.e. Game Type as duplicate. This would have the added benefit of adding duplicates to the standard changes queue

  20. As I was in the process of adding a game to the database, I was shown a list of fields into which I could enter URLs to that game's pages on various stores (Steam, GOG, Epic, etc.) but there was no URL field for the Microsoft Store. Why? The Microsoft Store has to be one of the most popular digital game sources. When IGDB adds a field for a Microsoft Store URL, I will edit the game's entry on IGDB to add a link to that game's Microsoft Store page.

Heya! Thanks for the suggestion, definitely a good one.

As a matter of fact we have plans this year to introduce stores, and possibly linking them to “Platforms”. You are correct that windows, XOne, X360 etc.. all have different stores so they would need separate implementation.

    Stay tuned!
