How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.

  1. There could be a way to link a game to another as a sequel or prequel, what would be good for game series like Metal Gear and The Legend of Zelda, for example. In the game page, there could be a place saying "Sequel to "game X" and "Prequel of "game Y".

Hey! we had a chat about this internally and landed on the fact it could become problematic, so we wanted to double check your suggestion in more details.
How would we define the order within a series? As this could be seen either as chronologically by release, or by story.

For example, MGS3 being the first one in the story, yet the 3rd one by release date. This could prove very divisive either way.

Another issue that could be problematic are differences in the order by region. Final Fantasy is an infamous case, where FFVI was released as FFIII in North America for example.

Was this the sort of approach you had in mind with such a feature? Let us know :)

  2. Noting the [CN] China region as well as [KR] Korea, but it is worth adding that releasing in mainland China is and has been EXCEPTIONALLY difficult for western publishers, which is why most devs have historically opted to release in [HK] Honk Kong or [TW] Taiwan and let those sales be an "in" to the region.

This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?

Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help.

    Thanks!

  3. http://retroachievements.org/ is a platform which provides achievements for retro games running in emulators, Currently there are only achievement categories for Steam, PSN and Xbox.

If we had a RetroAchievements category we could add achievements to thousands of games which may never have achievement's otherwise. It would be very cool for things like GOG Galaxy 2.0 integration plugins

    Heya!

This is interesting for sure, we would have to look into it. One thing that comes to mind is whether or not those achievement lists are official, or approved by the original developer/publisher, as this could prove tricky from an IP perspective. Since we would redistribute the data, we’re very careful about the source and provenance.

We’ll be looking into this internally first. Thanks!

  4. It would be the desireable behaviour from a database like this to treat equally to all the information but in this case Unreal Engine seems to be in privilegie in Twich and here appearing as "a person" and also a engine, a game itself and everywhere else... Not the same case as the others.

In this case Godot Engine is a game itself done with itself... Yeah Godot is a "game" done in Godot Engine... It would be seen as Core in UE (wich is also there in the list, surprise)

It would be good for equality that all users…

    Hello!

Sorry not sure i fully grasp the issue at hand. Currently Twitch does not ingest game engine data from IGDB. So if there is a tag existing for UE that isn’t coming from IGDB.

As a database we do indeed try to be as neutral as possible, and all the engine data we have connected to games get the same treatment in the form of a discovery profile page.
Here’s the one for Godot Engine: https://www.igdb.com/game_engines/godot-engine

If you have more info on it please feel free to contribute to it, as all of IGDB is user contributable :)

    Thanks!

  5. IGDB have ability to export your data, which is greate, and it would be nice to have a way to import this exported data back to your account.

    Hey there!

Could you clarity what do you mean by data in this case, is it to do with the lists and ratings in particular?

Curious to learn more about such a use case, is there a particular need to re-upload the exported CSV or Excel document rather than use the website?

    Thanks!

    Hi!

Could you give us more information what you mean in this case? By status do you mean adding a new one along side Alpha, Beta, Early Access, Cancelled etc..?

If so how would you define Dropped, it sounds like it would be similar to cancelled, as in the development has been in definitely put on hold.

    Thanks!

  7. Please add the game Hyakki Demons World of Demons to your games category.
I want more people to know about this wonderful game. The guidelines from the officials also give us permission to distribute it. Thank you for your consideration.

  8. Hello!

The game "Unreal" (1998) has this edited Scabbard album cover (1996) as a picture for its the Twitch category. This has caused confusion in the past whether the category is actually for the game or not. It may also infringe some copyright laws regarding the album cover. Is there any way you can update it to a relevant picture? There are a few box art covers and other official artwork you can use instead of what seems to be a fanmade edit.

  9. Some lesser played games don't have an icon, a streamer should be able to submit an icon to Twitch after streaming the game for a certain amount of time.

    Hey there!
By icons, do you mean the (game) box arts/covers?

If so, we have plans to improve coverage of those on Twitch via IGDB covers, but also eventually help streamers and viewers add to those on IGDB.

    Thanks!
