Unlock each emote as the level is beaten rather than the highest emote from the train.
Right now if you complete a level 100 Hype Train you will only get KappaInfinite instead of getting BleedPurpleHD, HeyHeyGuys, and PogChomp as well. This leads viewers to feel like they are ripped off because this generally isn't how game progression works.
When we beat a level we expect a reward from that level to be unlocked. We do not expect that reward to be overwritten by a higher level forcing us to have to do it again to unlock the lower tier reward. This is a normal tenet of game design and should apply to Hype Train rewards as well.

It's just a basic ideology to reward the behaviour you want to see, and in this case by giving only the highest emote from the train it does the polar opposite, it almost penalize the people who contribute to the train

there shouldn't be a possible scenario where people are annoyed that, for example, the hype train reached level 100 because they wanted the pogchomp emote.
In fact, people might contribute to the train because they specifically want the pogchomp emote and then feel cheated if that train happens to go past that tier and they already have the KappaInfinite emote. This also means they need to donate *again* in a second hype train to try and get the pogchomp emote.
You shouldn't have to pull the brakes on the hype train just because you're worried you might go to far. Hype trains aren't supposed to be stopped!

While I didn't have the opportunity to participate in the momentous occasion of the Hype Train record, from the attention brought to the issue of users only receiving less than expected amount of emotes for this train is very disheartening to hear. When it comes to level milestones, I agree the above suggestion that all emotes from those milestones should be included to participants. Not including those emotes is more of a punishment for folks banding together for a common goal, than it is an incentive for 'bad luck, try again'.

But if emotes are locked to specific levels and if enough people want a specific emote, hype trains would start getting sabotaged... wild west film style, but digital.

This is the way this should be addressed/implemented. Thanks Thor for creating this UserVoice.

It was amazing to be a SMALL part of this occurring. But when you look at the overarching cost of that day (well deserved by Thor), it can be disappointing to know that you don’t get the lower rewards. IF on that day, we utterly demolished the set goals, it would have left a sour taste if we didn’t get the level 100 reward if we accomplished a 200 goal or similar.
While Thor has a massive following, not everyone watches his channel; not everyone watches a channel that can accomplish this. For a smaller/medium streamer to have to coordinate with their followers SEVERAL of this hype train just to TRY to get the first couple goals is disheartening. -

I think the support for hype trains and the adding for monumental occasions like this is really cool and thank you for doing that! But like others are saying, we beat all those levels, we put cash dollars in and digital pixels are the reward, I think that's more than reasonable to provide all of the digital pixels instead of just a few of them. If you want to incentivize people who have already maxed a hype train out, just add more drops to level milestones, keep the first drop guaranteed, but then just randomly provide another if they reach that level again. If there are only so many, so be it, People will still want to ride the train :choo choo:

I still have not even received my Infinite Kappa, this is the first time I paid for a sub so this really feels like a ripoff

The fact that it was not even considered as a possibility is disappointing. If there is something people hate, is an unnecessary grind. Imagine having to beat a game to a certain percent to get a prize, then having to do it all over again, exactly the same way, but less complete, to get another prize. And so forth! Unthinkable, boring, uninspiring, demotivating. Twitch, please do better.

I joined the hype train a bit late, but I joined and participated nonetheless.
As the OP said, I think the rewards should be cumulative for the whole train. -

The hyptrain did pass all the milestones along the way to Level 100, I think this does reward us the emotes of the "lower" levels too. For that reason I don't think we should only get the "max level one". Especially since it doesn't make sense in my head to go with only that one. We passed the lower level, we earned the reward. That's how a regular user (me and the two frens I asked) sees it

I was excited to take part in this event. Smashing all the targets as a community only to then find out that we wouldn't receive the expected rewards due to a counter-intuitive system felt awful.
I really hope something is done to rectify this and deliver the lower tier rewards to all of us. Although the rules were in place before the event, the fact that they don't match the logical expectation of the participants is an error.
If people feel they have to comb through all of your platform's rules before they can interact in any way to ensure they don't feel short changed, that unquestionably hurts engagement and retention. -

My experiences with the Hype Train emotes are: either it is a small stream i like chilling in and it struggles to clear just the first level - this leads to me unlocking a lot/all of the first level emotes. The other is I spend time in larger streams that almost always clear the upper levels so i gather up the upper emotes. There are very few chances to get ones in the middle and that is sad. Now with it getting to level 100 I may not even get all the top emotes, or any. Gathering them as you progress is much better feeling as you don't feel like you are missing out at all. It also helps drive people to go for 100 if they they know they will get more.

It feels like a broken system, I'd file this as a bug if I was part of QA. We've passed the level required for the hype train but the emotes specific to levels do not get unlocked. It feels the same as completing an achievement in the game but not getting the other achievements that you've completed throughout the process of doing that one achievement. It is sadly a negative experience and makes it feel like I'm getting scammed or nickel and dimmed.

Its not fair you have to start multiple extreme level hype trains just to unlock a specific emote, this should be unlocked by progression.
In my opinion at least. -

Makes way more sense to keep all the emotes that are unlocked during high level hype trains.

PirateSoftware is right about this one. Twitch has become increasingly "game-ified" over the years. Plug-ins, Stream Elements, channel points and predictions, drops, and probably some things that I'm missing make the platform function like a game.
This is a good thing in general. There are a lot of people from that market here, and these features do a good job giving the consumers what they want. Game-ifying Twitch gives users interesting ways to interact with streamers AND advertisers which usually works out to a "win-win situation." Furthermore, the permanently unlockable Twitch emotes is a great extension of this that feels good a user in general. This is *MOSTLY* a great system.
But, this also creates expectations among the user base. The current policy goes against these expectations and they make achievement-moments that should feel great, instead feel like the consumers/users got cheated. One change to this system will improve how good it feels for users considerably.

Hype trains are a powerful thing and when they occur the sense of community involvement and the generosity of the people who contribute, especially in the case of the record setting attempt, is unmatched. To have a milestone or reward level in name only when it has been surpassed is very disheartening and will only serve to disenfranchise community members from contributing to them in the future. Please consider fixing this and implementing a better system to reward hype train members in the future.

Only getting the highest level emote for a hype train just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If a community works to get to a certain tier it's just logical for the community to get the emotes as they work their way up the ladder.
