Unlock each emote as the level is beaten rather than the highest emote from the train.
Right now if you complete a level 100 Hype Train you will only get KappaInfinite instead of getting BleedPurpleHD, HeyHeyGuys, and PogChomp as well. This leads viewers to feel like they are ripped off because this generally isn't how game progression works.
When we beat a level we expect a reward from that level to be unlocked. We do not expect that reward to be overwritten by a higher level forcing us to have to do it again to unlock the lower tier reward. This is a normal tenet of game design and should apply to Hype Train rewards as well.

Disappointed a predominantly gaming platform using badge unlocks to gamify hype trains doesn’t understand basic level/power-up progression of game design. Does Mario lose mushroom (big) when acquiring fire flower? No twitch, the answer is no… why? Because a tiny Mario throwing fireballs is just sad. In fact tiny fire Mario WAS the glitch in SMB1. Twitch, stop trying to make tiny fire Mario happen, it’s not going to happen!

Are we as a community meant to "stop" our hypetrain once we get to these lower levels? To not participate and instead take our money elsewhere?
Rarely do you see a business penalizing customers for giving away too much money!

Yes, technically, if you participate in a level 100 hype train and all cummulative emotes are awarded, as suggested, I would have no reason to seek out a lower level hype train attempt. For me personally, I will not seek out a hype train for emotes.
My frustration comes from the lack of internal testing, followed by a lack of clear communication from whoever has the authority to provide updates.
As soon as it was clear that there was an issue with the emote distribution, there should have been a tweet/community post/message for PirateSoftware to share. Ironically, it could have been spun into a positive: "Such amazing support, your community caused issues on our side that we weren't ready for" or something along those lines.
Instead, we have a bunch of service tickets open, chatters with extra emotes, some with no emotes, and no clear plan going forward.
Seeing this does not make any other community excited to schedule a level 100 hype train attempt any time soon.

It's wild I even have to post explaining how this should work. Can you imagine going into a game, surpassing a certain rank and only getting your current rank reward? Then, as you progress, you're stripped of any prior rewards? Come on now...

Twitch I understand this is difficult, its unfair to take emotes from people who have been given them and also unfair to those who didn't get emotes for also taking part.
The help section doesn't show the correct emotes for the level thresholds. It also states you get an emote for each level range. While I understand the intention may have been for a single emote per train, the implementation of specific emote rewards for hitting a target level hype train does suggest you get the reward once the level is hit, why would you take that reward away for getting to the next level? -

I completely agree with this, it makes much more sense if we already fought for InfinityKappa that we get all of the lower ones as well. Imagine this - you fight for the ultimate weapon in a game, but in the process of doing so, you lose everything else you had - it feels dumb. You fought for the other stuff, so why would you lose it? Unless it is implied that you sacrifice everything for that weapon, it doesn't make much sense.
We fought for InfinityKappa, it makes no sense to lose everything else we fought for.

I feel cheated by twitch with this intended behavior.
So this has my vote! -

It feelsa little bit punishing to only get the highest reward. For instance, if I really wanted BleedPurpleHD (IMHO one of the best emotes on offer), so I gifted to be a part of a hype train in hopes of earning it, but if the train goes beyond that tier (for instance, going faster than expected), it feels like I paid for an emote different than the one I wanted

i personally feel kinda screwed. after completing the last boss in a roguelike you don't miss out on the reward for killing the midbosses. it just doesn't make sense

In game progression (which the hype train mirrors, having the community band together to advance through the "levels" of a communal game), you unlock achievements, rewards, and items to mark your progress. As you progress further, you unlock more rare and valuable achievements, however your previous achievements are not stripped from you.
The current intended implementation of the Hype Train goes against its own game-like spirit, stripping the users of their previously earned achievements (emotes) and replacing them with newer ones.
This is the incorrect approach, as users should be able to look up on their emote box as a trophy case, seeing the progression and individual milestones they've crossed and accomplished.

As part of a community that rallied together to get to over 100 levels on a hype train on our first go, it feels incredibly deflating to realise that we didnt collect the emotes as we went. It feels unsatisfying knowing that there has to be multiple community efforts to achieve emotes we've already surpassed, along with the knowledge that incredible amounts of money have to be spent each time in order to achieve this.
It also means that viewers partaking in a hype train aimed at getting specific emotes cannot achieve lower tier emotes they may have previously missed, even if they spend money to achieve a higher level.
It disentivises me as a viewer and a paying customer to aim for high totaling hype trains when the reward is much less for taking part in something so incredibly expensive, and whilst I understand emotes and hype trains are nothin more than a fun way to spend money on supporting a streamer, it does feel inherently greedy to gatekeep emotee for totals that are passed. -

I think that it makes it unnecessarily arbitrary to obtain the emotes if only the top one is given away. The focus should be on the entertainment & the community aspect, not pausing the hype train at specific moments so that people will get specific emotes - even if given the record, that is very hard to do.

I put in a ticket. I received PogComp, KappaInfinite, and DidIBreakIt, so I assumed I would receive BleedPurpleHD, HeyHeyGuys as well.

SO I had wanted to take part in the hype train I didn't because I am poor and need my money for bills. Though after hearing that I wouldn't have gotten each level of emote I feel glad I didn't support the streamer I wanted to because it feels disloyal of the platform to treat me this way. I can support my streamer in other ways if I need to, but this is twich I feel hope that I don't have to because you guys listen to how we feel.

If hype trains are meant to be that, a train of hype gearing up for the streamer and community, then there should be rewards that go along side that.
Clearing a level, such as lv 100 and others, should grant "clearing" that a form of reward, ala Emotes.I find it silly and a slap in the face that we are spending money, on your site and towards a specific creator, that our reward is met with "you only get one" for hundreds, and in this case millions, of bits that the reward feels small. It doesn't make the community or streamer excited to continue the train. Why would they?
With a return so small, the investment isn't worth it in the first place.I know this is a knew system but think of it as clearing a boss. Level 1-20, easy, give a little something. 21-50, something more. 51-75, MORE. 76-100+?? ULTRA COMBO those loot drops!!! make it worth investing in for all involved.
Like a Pinata. The first kid to smack it, might make a *****. But the 100th kid?? Makes the thing go POP! and gives loot to everyone! Make it fun and interesting, otherwise, us as customers won't support hype trains and that hurts the streamer, the community and your backend as well.
Thank you for time reading through these comments. Please know, others are angry and just voicing frustration. This is a work in progress. We will get there, together.

I feel twitch didn't know what they were doing as they probably didn't expect anyone to hit 106, let alone 100. If there aren't any rewards as you progress past level 20, and you have to hit 100 or over to get ONE emote, then what's the incentive for any other channel to even get past level 20? It took 3 hours to hit level 100, that's the length of most streamers who stream.

Additionally, allow those of us who used our prime sub to get the rewards regardless of if we shared the sub in the chat or not. I used my sub, the % went up, PirateSoftware got the benefits, but I don't get the rewards?

I was expecting to get all the default emotes as well, so it's a bit disappointing to "only" get the KappaInfinite emote. I'm not too bummed about it, but it kinda sucks.

Why would you incentivize slamming the brakes on a Hype Train just to get different rewards? Sounds very unintuitive, and... not-hype.

I understand the premise with the first 5 levels because these are levels that are intended to be reached often but when you are going for a big train like this each should ne part of the unlock. Imagine any game trying to do this, 'I see you defeated 1000 enemies before dying, so we'll take away the 500 enemy achievement and maybe u can try that one out for the next run'... 😑
