Change the Game Developer badge instead of deprecating it On October 21st, 2024, Twitch will be deprecating the Game Developer badge. This badge has, in my opinion, a pretty important benefit for both game developers and streamers alike: It weeded out viewers that would pose as game developers.
I can't tell you how many times I heard from streamers that they were glad our studio had badges verifying who we were, as they often had new viewers claim they worked on our game. Knowing that the badge existed made them skeptical, especially as they'd seen us in their chat before.
With the badge's upcoming removal, this opens the door…
25 votesThank you for your detailed submission and articulating the usefulness of the badge for game developers. We agree with the sentiment and additional context can be found in the deprecation announcement. You are correct that there was an increase in requests to verify organizations. This process is also used to gain access to other features such as Drops campaigns and game analytics. Product updates to limit requests for a global badge and remove confusion, such as enabling the badge only on a matching category as you mention, will take considerable time while continuing to block new developers from using these organization features. This change will reestablish the 1-week SLA for organization requests and an improved implementation of the game developer badge can be considered in the future while we enable new game developers to onboard.

Provide Cheermote and Emotes information for EventSub Cheer Events When viewers cheer, they use cheermotes and commonly emotes in their cheer messages. Unfortunately, the payload received from EventSub's
channel.cheercallbacks only have the raw text as entered by the user, with no indiciation of which portions of that text are cheermotes nor emotes. Thus, I propose the following update to the callback payload, similar to thechannel.subscription.messageevent, that passes along the data for both so that a consumer of EventSub can reconstruct the message:
…{ "subscription": { ... }, "event": { ... "message": { "text": "Rah Rah Cheer! cheerwhal1 Cheer100 notACheer101 finite6ThrowBall", "cheermotes": [ { "begin": 16, "end":31 votes -
(Visually) Disable Moderator Badge Users are able to hide specific badges already (Twitch Prime, Turbo, Bits, ...) but what about Moderator Badges?
The reason for this suggestion:
In smaller streams (new) chatters might get scared if moderators post messages. So I see 2 potential ways this could be achieved:
- Only visually disable the mod badge (keeping the moderation actions in-tact)
- Allow moderator to go into "non-moderation mode" - in this mode, the moderation actions are not available and they are like a normal chatter
In both cases moderators should still show up in the Moderator List (/mods).
Recently Twitch added a "Mod View" into…
613 votesWe would like to offer an “off-duty mode” for Mods, but it isn’t one of our top priorities at the moment. Will revisit in 2021.
