Dutch translation very awkward and poorly written website wide.
The Dutch translations on the website are incredibly awkward.
Example: "Schenk een abonnement v"
"Nog *** abonneepunten te gaan!"
Or a more obvious example, in chat, whenever someone subscribes:
"xyz heeft zich geabonneerd op niveau 1. Hij/zij heeft zich voor 22 maanden geabonneerd, en is al 22 maanden op rij abonnee!"
The pronouns are very awkwardly put there. Nobody says "Hij/zij" like that in Dutch, especially not the young audience that is watching. It feels like the entire Twitch site is translated by a chatbot, or by a 50yro anti-English Flemish grandma who is not used to genderless writing.
My proposal would be to change "Hij/zij" to "Diegene" in this case. "Nog *** abonneepunten te gaan!" to "Nog *** punten nodig!" etc etc.
Same issue with hij/zij for Settings#Privacy; use "die" in this case.
zijn/haar; use diens. (its grammatically correct, no woke issue)
Notificaties > Meldingen
Bijwerken > Bewerk xyz; xyz bewerken; xyz aanpassen
Sparen (?) > Opslaan (mistake in use, sparen means to save up money)
Bladeren > Ontdek (or ontdekken fully)
Lekker chatten > Lekker/Gezellig kletsen
Beroepenportaal (?) > Accountstatus; Overtredingen
Profielafbeelding veranderen > Upload profielfoto
Schenken > Doneer (or doneren fully)
And for the sake of everyone, please dont say "u" and "uw" anymore... We are not elderly or royalty. (Mostly in use on the uservoice web page)
Maybe the best solution: have an actual young Dutch person go through the website and have them change the language to a more natural experience; this is just awkward...
for any help, feel free to reach out.
