Please do not remove the ability to cheer anonymously
Today (Oct 24, 2022) Anon cheering seems to have been disabled for some reason. Please do not remove the ability to cheer Anonymously.
Some of us like to donate bits and don't want to be "recognized" for it. Removing the ability to cheer anonymously will just make us not cheer at all.
If this was somehow something streamers were asking for, then make it a per-stream setting a streamer can toggle (but default ON).

Hey all! Thanks for this thread. We recently deprecated anonymous Cheering after we discovered it was being abused. While we understand some viewers prefer not being recognized for Cheering, we made this change to ensure a safer experience for those who were negatively impacted.
We’ve also heard your concerns on what this means for the future of Bits. This deprecation is not related to any plans to limit Cheering with Bits on Twitch, and is solely focused on providing a safer experience for our community.

Please do not remove the anonymous cheers, but please keep track of the usernames incase of a refunding incident to users.

Do not remove it, like everyone said people are happy to go under the radar and not get recognition for it and keeps hassle to a minimum

Anonymous cheers/bits/sub gifting should always be allowed. All 3 allow for someone with a bigger wallet who wants to drop those on a content creator to not deal with DM spam or @ messages, begging for handouts. Sure, some want to be known, but not all. Removal of any of these also pushes those who want to support anonymously to do so through PayPal or other means, which results in Twitch not getting a % of that.

Taking away anonymous bits removes a user's ability to support their favorite content without being the target of countless dms asking for handouts. Please don't take them away Twitch!

Why does it seem like Twitch is trying to phase out bits? This will only HURT the platform.

If it weren’t for the anonymous people, we wouldn’t have got the help we as streamers needed or wanted. Please don’t remove this Twitch. Thanks

I don’t understand why decisions continue to get made knowing the entire twitch community wouldn’t agree to it. Please do not remove our anonymous button!

Don't see how removing anonymous cheering improves the twitch experience at all

I don't understand this decision in the slightest, all it will do is either reduce monetary support for streamers (and twitch) or take it off site where it can be done anonymously. Neither are a good outcome for twitch. This decision should be reversed immediately.

I am shocked that Twitch would do this. Being an Anonymous Gift hasn't been an issue. I just don't understand this change. I feel that it helps protect the ones who gift subs and bits.

I don’t understand why they’d take away the anonymous option! Some people are more comfortable with that, regardless how big or small the amount may be

Anonymous cheers should not be removed, allow people to keep their privacy if they wish

Don’t remove it, if anything just add a toggle! Some people don’t want the attention or just want to stay anonymous!

do not remove this

Sometimes we like to be lurking and support streamers without drawing attention to ourselves. Please keep Anonymous Cheering.

WE NEED THIS. My biggest supporters do it in secret because people have chased them down and emotionally manipulated them. Others do it for the community and want to stay private, they genuinely want to help growth and support and don’t want to be named. If you take this away, they just won’t support at all. This will cost you money, Twitch, and is as creators.

No compelling reason to remove this functionality. You keep removing features in the service of nothing while setting the ads dial to 11. It's like y'all forgot what happened with Digg, and why Reddit ate their lunch. This only serves to penalize large donors and thereby reduce your own profits as a company. If I can donate to my local galleries, public spaces or universities anonymously IRL, what's the hang up here?

My community has an inside joke about cheering anonymously and we feel like we all know the one person who does it, but since it’s anonymous… can always be someone else. It’s always funny wondering! Seriously though, some people like to support in the shadows, and this tool only helps people do that. It’s wholesome and I always love seeing the little cheermote that comes with it! Such a shame because bits are 100% the way to go for supporting a streamer and it seems like Twitch doesn’t realize that when they should.

There are tons of people who have supported my stream anonymously to avoid harassment or people trying to use them. They want to just be able to enjoy the stream, support, and then talk without anyone ever realizing it was them.
You will be harming both your creators revenue and your own (as you get premiums on bits, or half on gifted subs) for most streamers. If anon wasn't an option it would disrupt SO MANY PEOPLE!
