[Experiment] Making Cheering Easier
For a limited time, within a select number of channels, we’re testing a different way to Cheer through direct purchase Cheering.
Direct purchase Cheering allows you to unlock a fun community benefit through monetary payment, rather than through Bits. This experiment is only available to select creators and you must be located in the U.S. to participate. If you have any further questions please refer to our help article (https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/cheering-experiment-2022?language=en_US)
We look forward to hearing your feedback on this!

Echoing literally everything in the comments... there was no need to fix a system that wasn't broken.
Bits are interactive, fun, engaging, and don't take even more revenue from creators that already don't get their fair share.
I never received an email to opt out of this - and I absolutely would have opted out of this.
I can't wait for this "limited time" experiment to end. This is not good for creators or viewers.

Absolute garbage implementation! IF you are going to add a feature you should not disable a previous feature especially if it is part of a streamer's revenue. This is an unacceptable rollout and I do not know who or why this was decided. If you wanted to test this out you needed to offer BOTH as a solution so the streamer could get bits AND tips through the twitch platform. One of twitch's biggest failures yet

My viewers are cheering less or going out of their way to cheer on mobile, and today I realized when people cheer on mobile we still only get 80% of the bits. People are paying $1.40 to give us 80 cents.
Removing custom cheer amounts ruins all the work people have put into their emotes, and makes twitch less creative and just feels weirdly sterile. Feels like Twitch is moving away from what makes it unique, and I imagine a lot of people are similarly frustrated and considering other streaming options.
There's a reason Twitch won't let us opt out, and it's because they knew we'd be mad. They just wanted to see the reaction before forcing it on everyone.
If you're a streamer reading this please encourage your community to support you via paypal or other sites instead of on mobile.
As a viewer, I buy my more bits than I plan to use. I don't watch streams often so I like having a supply of bits to take from to cheer the people I'm actively watching so I don't have to think about how much money I have in my paypal.
I also think the new system is less transparent and disingenuous. I don't mind paying a fee to pay creators, this comes off as Twitch Trying to hide that fee from the consumer, leaving them to think they're giving the streamer more $$ than they actually are.
I understand that the change can have it's benefits (100 bits = $1.40 vs $1 gives the streamer 80 cents) but it overall just feels like Twitch tried to do it in a sketchy way. I didn't see the email with the option to log out, I just logged into Twitch one day and despite all the useless junk I get notifications about there was no indication that I was part of a test group. I logged on one day and all of a sudden my viewers are complaining they can't give me money, while the "My Channel/My Twitch" notifs were empty.
This experiment has just been overall unpleasant and disheartening. Even if it had been implemented with more transparency I don't think I would have liked the experiment. Alerts aren't impactful in my streams but there are small fulltime streamers who generate a lot of their income from their custom alert experiences. I feel like what sets Twitch apart from other platforms is the custom interactivity and this experiment removes a layer of that.

I just want my Bits back :\
It provides more interactivity from my community with custom bit alerts, and in no way does this make anything easier. Don't fix it if it is not broken right? -

This is a terrible idea. Streamers have spent time and effort making bit sounds unique to their streams and you are silencing that creativity. How did you even make sure the streamers selected got your opt out email? I hope this ends soon, its ruining chats and stopping people from spending money on streamers. I bet you only did this to smaller streamers too.

This is in no way "easier." It breaks everything, and the streamers can't even opt out of it now. Why the arbitrary deadline of April 24? What about the streamers who don't stream as often and couldn't figure out how to opt out? Maybe your selection criteria should've checked to see if the streamer was opted in for emails before sending out invites they'd never get....

This is the worst thing to ever happen to my channel. I hate everything about it. My viewers hate everything about it.
It doesn't register on hype trains or alerts it just sucks I would wish death on the thief that had this idea. 80% my ***.... you lying cheating money grabbing crooks.
How dare you just enroll people into this and not ask us.
0/10 wouldn't recommend
Horrible Horrible experience -

As a viewer and as one of the channels this has been implemented, I really dislike this. It has not added anything to the stream experience and has negatively impacted it for me.
Plus right now, some viewers can use bits and some can't and that in itself is creating a bad space.
But it is very very disheartening? it doesn't have to same feel?
I very much no vote no for the change

As a viewer, I dislike this. Bits are easier to work with and more fun. Only one of the streamers I watch has this and it's terrible for her channel and her income.
I've tried using it, and yes it's easy, but it's also... flat?
It doesn't add any value to the stream, especially at the expense of bits.

As a viewer, I do not enjoy this at all. Bits are fun, just leave it alone. As a streamer, I'm glad I was left out of this experiment. Just.. you know... stop? Maybe work on discoverability instead of this?

I literally didn't see the email to opt out of this, and I absolutely hate this new cheering system
It lacks any sort of personality that cheering with Bits had, it's way too restrictive, it doesn't have alerts, hype trains are now basically discouraged, and it's just genuinely poorly implemented
Please end this test or get this off my channel, it is awful.

Hello,
This is absolutely terrible please bring bits back. It's messed up all the alerts, people like being able to choose the amount they cheer instead of pre determined amounts, and I'm not going to use it as a viewer, I prefer bit 1000 times over.

This is a horrendous idea. I went to donate bits to a stream and was met with this garbage of an idea. The suits that thought this up need to go elsewhere. This will keep me from cheering pretty much at all. It wasn't broke, don't mess with it.

Hello! Please remove me from this program.
There aren't emote incentives or rewards for chat. Alerts aren't playing and chat doesn't like it. Please remove me from the program and hopefully the test ends soon. if you want any other feedback, please let me know.

NO. This sucks. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Now it really is broken. Put it back. Horrible experience for both viewers and creators.

This doesn't work with custom alerts which is where a lot of streamers get their cheers from. People want to see the custom alerts and viewers are unable touse their bits and they have to buy for every cheer. Instead of buying bits in chunks and spending them as they want. This was really frustrating and made me NOT want to support the stream in that way.
