My viewers are cheering less or going out of their way to cheer on mobile, and today I realized when people cheer on mobile we still only get 80% of the bits. People are paying $1.40 to give us 80 cents.

Removing custom cheer amounts ruins all the work people have put into their emotes, and makes twitch less creative and just feels weirdly sterile. Feels like Twitch is moving away from what makes it unique, and I imagine a lot of people are similarly frustrated and considering other streaming options.

There's a reason Twitch won't let us opt out, and it's because they knew we'd be mad. They just wanted to see the reaction before forcing it on everyone.

If you're a streamer reading this please encourage your community to support you via paypal or other sites instead of on mobile.

As a viewer, I buy my more bits than I plan to use. I don't watch streams often so I like having a supply of bits to take from to cheer the people I'm actively watching so I don't have to think about how much money I have in my paypal.

I also think the new system is less transparent and disingenuous. I don't mind paying a fee to pay creators, this comes off as Twitch Trying to hide that fee from the consumer, leaving them to think they're giving the streamer more $$ than they actually are.

I understand that the change can have it's benefits (100 bits = $1.40 vs $1 gives the streamer 80 cents) but it overall just feels like Twitch tried to do it in a sketchy way. I didn't see the email with the option to log out, I just logged into Twitch one day and despite all the useless junk I get notifications about there was no indication that I was part of a test group. I logged on one day and all of a sudden my viewers are complaining they can't give me money, while the "My Channel/My Twitch" notifs were empty.

This experiment has just been overall unpleasant and disheartening. Even if it had been implemented with more transparency I don't think I would have liked the experiment. Alerts aren't impactful in my streams but there are small fulltime streamers who generate a lot of their income from their custom alert experiences. I feel like what sets Twitch apart from other platforms is the custom interactivity and this experiment removes a layer of that.

I had 0 notifications on my profile and no emails from twitch indicating that they were changing anything. I start streaming to find out that people can't use the bits they had already pre-purchased on me, and instead need to get a special currency just for me. Confused, I checked my earnings page only to see that the new currency isn't being tracked in my analytics... i hate it here
