[Experiment] Making Cheering Easier
For a limited time, within a select number of channels, we’re testing a different way to Cheer through direct purchase Cheering.
Direct purchase Cheering allows you to unlock a fun community benefit through monetary payment, rather than through Bits. This experiment is only available to select creators and you must be located in the U.S. to participate. If you have any further questions please refer to our help article (https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/cheering-experiment-2022?language=en_US)
We look forward to hearing your feedback on this!

I feel like, if it ain't broke don't fix it. So many streamers would have to setup things differently to accommodate and I feel it would be more work for the community than it worth to change the system.

I use the bits system a lot! Some of my favourite creators on the platform vitalizes this system tremendously with [CUSTOM AMOUNTS] Please don't change the bit system, you're literally killing these channels that I watch on a regular basis. KILLING, and i mean that literally... Either keep both! or remove this one.

Horrible Idea.....would be a little better with custom amounts, but in that case just stick with the bits system. All my viewership and many other people I know specifically follow and support interactive streamers....and youre about to single-handedly kill them all. STOP THIS SYSTEM

See, this kind of anti-user baloney is why I don’t pay for anything that Twitch does.

Do not do this. Take your cut when they buy the bits. Absolutely horrible idea.

Terrible idea. The emotes go away after you end the stream, lowering the incentive to donate the bits. People enjoy emotes because they remain permanent with subscriptions and bit tier unlocks. This also kills anyone wanting to do less than a dollar or a specific amount. People enjoy alerts catered to specific bit cheer amounts in some channels and is a highlight of their gimmick (not all streams but some).
If this is implemented, it should be optional for streams that want to use the feature. If there is an issue with money laundering via bits (which I am guessing is the issue here) perhaps Twitch needs to look at a better way to secure payment options for bits and chargebacks for your company instead of taking it out on the streamer.

It was not clear in the communication I received that bits would be turned off in favor of this experimental feature. I had viewers who went to cheer and were very confused and did not want to use this new feature because they had purchased bits to use on my channel. So, it actively discouraged people cheering on my channel. Someone figured out that bits still worked via mobile, and viewers went there to cheer instead. Overall, this change was a negative experience for me as a streamer and for my viewers who stock up on bits to use them later. They do not want to do an instant transaction. I wish I could turn this off. I also wish there was some indication of how long the test was running. Not a fan of this.

This is the single worst idea I've ever seen. I wish you'd have contacted me about Opting In so I could avoid giving y'all guff about this. I hate this new system. My content relies heavily on specific bits amounts, and the fact that now I can only have like FIVE different donation amounts my viewers can give AND I don't even receive as much money as before is ludicrous. STICK TO BITS, LEAVE THE SUPERCHATS WITH YOUTUBE.

I spend a lot of bits... And can say I am not at all happy with this cheer system. I go into bits knowing the premium I'm paying for them and am happy to do so knowing the streamer isn't paying it. This system obviously works more like Subs and me as a viewer pays the flat amount (+ tax) and the streamer only gets a cut of that. It forces you to cheer instantly instead of being able to stock up on bits and use them over time. Also since it's whole dollar amounts and instant this prevents streamers who have lists of bit alerts for various amounts from being able to use them. And can say that generates a decent amount of bit usage IE revenue for those streamers.
I see no upside to this outside of what seems like Twitch trying to get more profit for themselves. It in no way makes cheering easier as you have titled it.
Even though I get **** from other viewers for paying the bit premium, which is insanely high, I still do it because I like the reward/tracking system for it and the ability to trigger various alerts for relatively cheap... If this cheer system does go through in anything near its current state and replaces bits I wont be using it and will finally make the move to donating through 3rd parties.
Hope the devs listen to the clearly overwhelming negative feedback on this one.

Regrettable the irresponsibility of the platform with the creator who is starting! Go back to the way things were, this is just driving my audience away from the stream! Create a tool that makes it optional, it's the least you have to do, the MINIMUM! Not everyone in Brasil is a "Gaules" or "Casimiro!"

Taking away my ability to have custom alerts for specific amounts is not going over well in my community. The ability to have different alerts for very similar amounts of bits is a LARGE part of my channel, and although you gave me a chance to opt out, you only gave me 4 days to do so, which I feel was not an adequate amount of time to reach out to your streamers. If there's an immediate opt out option, please let us know; and if there isn't, please make one!

I tried it out. The options in Australian Dollars are $1.60, $8, $16, $80, and $160. I bought the $1.60 cheer, no alerts played, and the message in the chat said I cheered $2AUD??
I am also NOT a fan of having to process individual credit card or PayPal transactions each and every time I want to cheer.
This system is bad for everyone, please get rid of it.

As someone who has custom alerts, functions, and actions taken from bit alerts - this would absolutely ruin all of these features my team has taken years to build and customize. You already make money from bits - and it is a way for folks to support at any level they wish and can. Making this not as accessible both in terms of payment options or customizable by amounts is going to result in LESS USAGE. Bits can be used to make such a customized, fun, exciting, and eventful experience for viewers and the streamer. Taking this away will just be another blow to creativity and community for a sense of profit. Listen to creators.

StreamLabs sucks.
Don't force streamers to use StreamLabs, that company has shown they truly don't give a **** and will straight up copy other creative tech companies.

Do not do this in its current state. Some of us have specific alerts tied to a certain amount of Bits. You currently offer no option to do anything other than $1, $5, $10, $50, and $100. There is also no API offered for specific alerts to trigger for them. If you do implement this, don't do it until there's a customizable amount that can be entered and until alerts can go along with these. The current state of this feature shows a distinct lack of understanding for what is generating revenue for streamers right now. Bits bring in a lot for those who understand how to tie them to alerts properly. I also think it's incredibly inconsiderate that you don't let channels willingly test this or opt out if they don't want to do this. This isn't a small change and could affect someone's revenue if their audience doesn't like it. If you ever put my channel in this test, I will request with my partner manager to have me removed.

Hi dowski, feedback from a developer.
Disappointing. You're about to kill my channel if this is meant to entirely replace bits.
Explanation: specific amounts is what drives some of our channel's unique features when we use extensions, meaning redemptions that are BIT AMOUNT BASED will no longer function. I created an interactive channel where my viewers can engage with hundreds of animations, relying on small amount of bits as well anywhere up to to 10,000 > this took years of work
For example: 69 bits would activate a desired redemption, 125, 126, 130, 140, and other amounts are used as the call-to-function
With this change: having a preset of $1-$5-$10-$50-$100 means that we can't have fair amounts for smaller redemptions and that viewers will be forced to pay more, I appreciate the smaller amounts, some rewards are meant to be cheap and fun so viewers can engage and spam them - even a single bit in my channel activates cool things and doesn't go unnoticed. The current presents that you're adding doesn't seem fair at all towards my community.
I ultimately went with twitch bits because they are safer than PayPal integrations, they provided me with a safety net regardless I appreciated it for what it was.
My two cents: I truly hope that you are not replacing them entirely, and if so, at least give viewers an option to Super Cheer with specific amounts (if your minimum is 1.00, add an option to select the amount of cents anywhere up to the max amount)
Years of work down the drain if this is true.
For the love of god, twitch needs to start listening to their smaller creators. Smaller channels are the new wave who are seeking uniqueness and doing every we can to shine against poor discoverability odds by using your best features, technical capabilities that youtube doesn't have yet. The fact that we are being ignored while other large creators are leaving the platform is just sad, concerning, disappointing.
The amount of negative comments in this thread should give you enough indication that this is a bad move!

This just killed my channel. Most of my revenue comes from my subs donating a small amount of bits. Now they confirmed they won't be able to continue. Honestly, this is terrible for the community. I really hate this and hope you backtrack, but I doubt you will. I might need to look into other platforms :(
