Gifted subs only for people ho have watched the channel
Gifted subs are a great idea to in crease engagement in a particular community. However I do not for the life of me understand why a gifted sub can be give to someone who has never seen the channel.
Please implement a control that forced gifted subs to be given to people who have spent a "significant" amount of time in the channel.
For instance, I was recently gifted a sub to a channel I know nothing about, and have no interest in watching based on the content being aired. This to me is a waste of the gifter's time and money, and does not serve to increase a channel's viewership; I am NOT interested in that creator's content.
A "significant" amount of time can be something like..maybe an average of 1 hour per month, maybe more. The idea is to reward people who will find the content engaging and help them grow the channel.
As things are right now, the person who gifted me the sub to a channel I will never watch has effectively wasted hard earned cash, and has failed to grow the engagement of the channel. This, on all sides, seems so wrong to me.
Yes, I know I can disable gifted subs for channels that I do not follow, but I feel that is far too broad a brush. A change to something more along the lines of a "merit" based gifted sub would be far more effective at growing a channel and increasing viewership. Maybe I've watched a channel a handful of times and just haven't found THE reason to follow it. But a gifted sub in that respect might push me over the edge and allow me to interact more positively than simply disabling the gifted sub and effectively losing the gifter money, as the intended effect failed.
