Option to block gifted subs for followed channels
While I understand it’s a nice thought and supports the streamer, I usually lurk in the channels I follow. I suffer anxiety and I’m painfully introverted and I don’t want to feel obligated or pressured into a subscription or into having to interact with people. I know people want to support their favorite streamers but please have an option for us anxious people to block gifted subs for followed channels (as well as the already existing option for unfollowed channels)

I am a Turbo subscriber and I feel that most gifts are wasted on me and are better served to others. I should be able to turn off the ability to receive gifts completely. Plus, I purposely cancel my subs prior to SUBtember to receive discounted rates to the few channels I sub to - and someone always screws this up by gifting me - they see I am not subbed. And then I don't get my discounts. I don't want to unfollow to prevent this.

For starters, I don't like undeserved gifts. It's even worse when I get a gifted sub for channel that I decided to follow during a raid (I consider "following" a common courtesy) - I essentially get a sub in place of someone who might be a loyal viewer - I know that apparently there's a multitude of factors that decide who gets a freebie, but I don't think that giving those out randomly is the most optimal solution. You already excluded gifted subs from counting towards partnership eligibility. Do you want for people to stop gifting subs ? Because currently that's the sure way for people to stop buying them.

I today and unfortunately there is still no way to disable receiving gift subs on followed channels. I understand this is a way for Twitch to make money but all that happens is that I end up either unfollowing the creator, I am also now disabling the gifted sub (out of pettiness, I know but I'm just annoyed). Either way it's a waste.

Please implement this. It is not a good experience to get a gifted sub to a channel you barely ever watch due to rng. There should be a minimum threshold of time watched before a gifted sub can be received. The alternative is for me to unfollow the streamer and block gifted subs for all channels I don't follow. Now, twitch. ask yourselves seriously...is this good design for viewers AND streamers? Forcing someone to unfollow a stream they occasionally enjoy watching but don't necessarily EVER interact with? If you answer yes, you're wrong. Because that is what I do. SO a streamer could potentially lose more than a handfuil of followers due to posturing on twitch's part. Currently I will also disable the gifted sub immediately.

Pro tip: if you got gifted sub and you wanted to buy it yourself then just donate 500 or more bits, those are worth the same but give more to the streamer and are better anyway.. (unless they are in partner plus program)
and you will always have bit badge and can get bit emote too, also different from subs those can always only be yours. -

It's beyond time to implement this Twitch! There are PLENTY of reasons why this is a good idea for the community.
- We want the recognition for subbing on my own
- A lot of us don't want to get gifted for channels we only watch a few times
- We don't want unwanted emotes clogging up our emote menusAt least give us the option to determine WHICH channels we want to disable gifted subs from.
There's plenty of chatters who would LOVE a gifted sub over someone who's just passing through. ALSO, there's plenty of regular chatters who want to renew their subs on their own accord.
At the very least, allow us to pass on a gifted sub to someone else....
PLEASE give us options. Thank you.

It would be great if Twitch would prioritize gifting subs to regular chatters over anyone else.
(Or give streamers a way to prioritize specific people ourselves).
I'd assume most regulars would love getting a sub over a lurker who never chats or someone who followed the channel and never returned to chat.
Also for those that don't know:
You already have the ability to turn off being gifted subs to channels you don't follow under settings. This idea is to add the option for followed channels as well. -

Twitch isn't going to ever let you block gifted Subs. They want the money and dont care how you feel about it. It would be a simple fix but years later you still cant block gifts. What more proof do you need.

I only really watch one channel where I'm active and I use my Amazon Prime to sub already. The other follows I just lurk around, it is a waste that I'm being gifted at all. I would love to pass the sub onto someone else who'd actually want it!

Is it still not possible, been years now make it happen twitch. I think people consider the giving aspect as always “good”. Its not y’all, there a whole new toxicity to it. People trolling and talking trash and they just dont always come from the right place, thats all im saying. There are also channels i watch for specific reasons i have no intention on subbing there more so just making sure the level of mental health hasnt dropped to low. We mods call it “toxic positivity”. I wish the shady aspect of it wasnt there, then we could enjoy the fun of gifted subs but unfortunately i dont see people getting better about it, seems to be declining instead. I was gifted 6 months of subbing somewhere, no bro that nuts. Atleast make it one and done and ill suck it up for a month till it expires, but half a year come on bro. What a positive affect it had for the streamer, i stopped watching.

Obviously Twitch won't do anything about this because why would they.
The solution to this eternal problem is simple:
You have 1 account on which you follow people, but don't watch.
And you make 2 account in which you don't follow anyone except channels on which you want to get subs. On this channel you watch everyone.Only thing you need is 2nd browser opened so that you see who is live.

I like the concept of gifting, but I agree we need more control. I just checked my notifications and discovered a gift sub to a channel I only watched once and was actually intending on unfollowing (when the streamer wasn't live so it wasn't awkward). So now I feel bad someone else who actually likes the channel can't benefit from my random gifted sub. :/
I would love to be able to block gift subs from any channel or at least pass them on as o9136 suggested. I did see in this Twitch help page https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/managing-and-upgrading-a-gift-subscription?language=en_US it says "To prevent receiving gift subs from certain channels or users, utilize the block feature." but this method is impractical as it can only be used retroactively and requires you to block people you may otherwise not want to block.

There needs to be a way to opt out of being given gift subs. I know that it goes against the website making money, but I've recently had a bad experience with a gifter who was mad I typed more in chat after receiving a gift sub (lol), so i disabled all my gift subs. Anyway, that's the idea; although I don't expect it to happen. Thank you.

I want to decide on my terms WHEN I start subscribing a channel I follow, it kind of f*cks up the audience's "binding"-process to new channels when you found a channel a couple of hours ago and some random sub gift or even a sub gifted directly (because you might have written something in the chat) kicks any appreciation of the channel one might like to show at a certain time into the dust. Sub gifts for followed channels need to be optional as well.

I don't want to have gift subscriptions, so I have to cancel them every time. I would like to block the ability to get a gift subscription or transfer that subscription to someone else.
