I'm just concerned that if they allow freeing of usernames it could open the doors up to spoofing or harmful impersonation of the previous account/account owner. Thoughts on this?

Im full for this iHatchiXBL, iv been requesting a acc to be deleted for over a year now , dannylmusics your comment is trash , why should someone own a name who does nothing with it ? imagine I owned the name Nike but just kept it because i had no intention to do anything with it ? Death or inactive should be a major factor , in business if you purchase a business name you need to show proof to the government its active with financial statements or they delete it . Why should i work my *** off for my channel who has the same name as someone whos inactive?

This is trash thinking, a user who created input and collected achievements in Twitch should never ever get deleted or marked "inactive", his/her content should be always available to watch and even if he dies. Be creative and find yourself names that fit with you instead of stealing the names of others. How 0 creative beings can be.

5 years and still no updates. It is pretty ridiculous that even if you change your username on an active account it STILL gets forced into a recycle period. Big yikes that this hasn't been looked into for this long.

I just want the name FunSize as the account with that name seems constantly inactive and has always been like that.

I agree with this so much I have an old account that I can no longer access due to technical issues and I know for a fact that the account has been inactive for more than 12 months yet it’s still hasn’t been recycled.

The underscore proceeding my username Kilraki_ has been bugging me since 2017-2018. I've checked back regurlarly since then to see if this "Username Rename and Recycling Policy" committed to freeing up inactive accounts usernames. As apparent in the comment section, that is simply not the case. #underscorepleasenomore

AGREE SO ******* THIS. I wanted to change my name to something that doesn't even seem to be taken since i couldn't find the channel with this name i thought of, but still says "name not available" and its nothing TOS or anything of the sort.... so frustrating

Please allow banned accounts to have their names freed too. It's not fair to have certain names permanently taken out of the system because some dude was an idiot and got site banned.
