Feature Request: "On World Record Pace" live filter and notification category for Speedrunning
Summary:
Twitch should introduce a live sorting filter or category for the Speedrunning community that highlights streamers who are currently on pace to break a World Record (WR).
How it would work:
Most speedrunners use open-source timer software like LiveSplit, which already utilizes public APIs and extensions to broadcast live split data. Twitch could integrate with these existing data streams to detect when a runner is "in the green" (ahead of the current world record time) during the final splits of a run.
When a runner enters a high-probability WR pace, a visual indicator (like a glowing icon or a specific tag) would appear on their stream preview, and the stream would automatically be boosted into a dedicated "Live WR Pace" discovery tab.
Why this benefits Twitch:
- Massive Hype & Watch Time: The final minutes of a successful world record run are some of the most thrilling moments in gaming. Viewers love being there to witness history live. This feature would instantly funnel thousands of hype-driven viewers to the right channel at the exact right moment.
- Support for Smaller Creators: Currently, discoverability in speedrunning favors established channels. A "WR Pace" filter ensures that if a lesser-known runner is having the run of their life, the community will actually find them.
- Low Technical Barrier: Because the speedrun community is heavily standardized around software like LiveSplit, the foundational API data is already available. Twitch wouldn't need to invent a new system from scratch—just build a bridge to existing community tools.
This feature would turn Twitch into the ultimate real-time hub for competitive gaming milestones.
