Username Rename Tool Bug
Multiple people have reported that the username rename tool has been bugged for them, including me. EVERYTHING we type in is being marked as unavailable no matter what browser or device we use. When cross checked with other accounts or sign up, the username availability seems to be working fine. This makes it impossible to change our username on our accounts. Support has been incompetent and unhelpful for us. This is a bug on Twitch's end. There have been many other bugs reported recently as well. Broken password resets, missing chat logs, ghost notifications, VODs disappearing, and emotes breaking are a few among many others. Please look into this.

@Korvus104 I had some other people try that and they said it didn't work. Thanks for confirming that at least.

Not much of a solution but i found double-checking a name isnt taken through another website then copy-pasting it and clicking confirm before the "username is unavailable' pops up seemed to work for me. scuffed but yea.

@Mango_Quest I'm surprised that Twitch support is actually helping you. They just basically told me to F off and closed the case with the same copypasta. Thanks for looking into it. Such a frustrating bug...

Update for everyone following this issue: I’ve been in contact with Twitch Support about the username-change tool. I first reported the problem in late July and followed up in August and September because it still had not been resolved.
Support asked me to document exactly what happens and provide the information they would need to investigate: my location, the browsers and devices I used, the Twitch app version, the page where the error occurs, when I first noticed it, the exact error message, and screenshots. I sent that information along with screenshots showing two different test usernames being rejected.
On the profile settings page, **every username I try is marked “This username is unavailable,” and the Update button stays disabled**. This has happened in both Firefox and Chrome on Windows and in the Twitch iPhone app. I had also waited more than 60 days since my previous username change when I followed up, so I specifically asked Support to check whether there was a restriction on my account or a problem with the availability check.
My case has now been escalated. A Support representative said they logged the report and brought it to their team’s attention, but they do not have an ETA for fixing the tool. They offered to try changing my username manually as an exception, and I’m waiting to hear whether that works.
I’ll update this thread when I get a response. Even if the manual change succeeds, I hope Twitch continues investigating why the tool rejects every candidate for affected accounts.

Still bugged no matter how hard I try to bruteforce it. Tried several browsers and the app, nothing? Anyone know a fix?

Bumping this I've had this issue for months and Twitch leaves the default message that it's already taken. Naming tool is bugged.

It's been months. Twitch really just sucks now more than ever. No wonder streamers are leaving the platform.
