Fix SMS Verification and Authy Issues for Ukrainian Twitch Users!

Dear Twitch Team,

We, the Ukrainian community of streamers and viewers, are reaching out to you regarding a serious technical issue that significantly affects the platform’s development in Ukraine and prevents new users from fully accessing the service.

The Issue:

  • Account verification via SMS is not working on a large scale. Users do not receive confirmation codes on their mobile numbers during registration or when activating two-factor authentication.

  • Problems with the Authy app. New users do not receive SMS or a call for activation, making it impossible to use this service for two-factor authentication.

  • Due to the inability to verify their accounts, many potential users leave the Twitch platform in favor of more accessible services.

  • The biggest issue is that a new user registering for the first time does not receive an SMS, does not understand that they also need to install Authy, and even if they figure it out, Authy does not work either. They will not waste time troubleshooting but will simply leave. For a new user, registration must be quick and easy, without unnecessary obstacles, in just a few clicks.

Why This Is Critical:

  • This directly affects audience engagement, reducing platform activity.

  • Streamers lose potential subscribers and active viewers.

  • The Ukrainian Twitch audience faces restrictions that users from other countries do not, creating an uneven playing field.

  • Low audience engagement reduces revenue for both streamers and the Twitch platform. This results in lost revenue from bits, subscriptions, and fewer ad views. Advertisers, in turn, see low engagement from the Ukrainian audience and do not place ads on Twitch, leading to further revenue loss. Low earnings from the platform cause fewer Ukrainian streamers to choose Twitch as their primary platform, pushing them toward alternatives such as YouTube.

Our Demands:

  • Urgently investigate and fix the SMS verification issue for Ukrainian users.

  • Identify the causes of problems with the Authy app and ensure its proper functionality in Ukraine.

  • Provide an official statement on the situation and possible timelines for resolution.

The Ukrainian Twitch community is growing, and we strive to continue developing content on your platform. However, without resolving this critical issue, attracting new users and fostering the community’s growth becomes impossible.

We urge Twitch to address this issue and provide an official response as soon as possible.

Sincerely, The Ukrainian Streamer Community

I'm from Argentina. I read the coments and now I know that this problem isn't new, a friend of mine have the same issue also time ago. I just had the affiliate and i confirm that before I was log out from my account y recive a SMS of confirmation from Twitch. How can be posible that just after that I did't recive any SMS? I still trying to log in and it seems that isn't a solution for this. I don't want to start from the beginning, I want my occount back.

I have the same issue and I am from Philippines. I can't receive SMS verification message. I reached out to twitch support but they told me, they don't have issues. I have successfully linked my phone number to Paypal and even Discord. Please fix this issue. I cannot stream together with my friends.

Not only are SMS messages not coming to our phones anymore, but Twitch has also stopped sending codes and any other notifications to email. I’m not receiving notifications about my friends’ streams, and my friend hasn’t been able to access his account for two days because Twitch isn’t sending him any messages in any form. Basically, if you get logged out of your account and don’t have two-factor authentication enabled, you can forget about your account — support is silent.

SMS messages are not being delivered to my phone number (Ukraine).

I also attempted to use the Authy app, but no authentication messages arrive there either.

I tried changing the phone number to my wife's number (also in Ukraine) and my father's number (in Israel), but SMS messages for the number change request were not received in either case.

These attempts involved three different mobile network providers across two countries, so the issue does not appear to be on the carrier's side.

Please fix it as soon as possible.

Уже місяць неможу підтвердити акаунт. За цей час на мій канал підписалось більше 100 людей. а СМС верифікація не працює.

Please fix it as soon as possible. This problem has happened multiple times in our segment. It blocks our creators from engaging with a bunch of opportunities to grow and make you money 🙃

The problem has been there for a long time. Support does nothing. He just says what he is doing and closes his eyes. I had a situation where I was given a companion on my birthday. I was so happy, I thought it would be cool to celebrate my birthday and anniversary on the same day. But I couldn't receive the SMS until Sunday. It's good that I had a SIM card of a Eurozone country, and the SMS arrived there in a matter of seconds.

My new viewers are also unable to receive a confirmation SMS code upon registration. Please fix the problem!
