Twitch - UserNames - Add Alias Names/Nicknames to the Profile settings / Channel Settings
Enhancement Request:
User can have the functionality/ability to create and change an Alias Name, separate from the User/Streamer name as long as the user has a Twitch channel.
For example
User Name: JohnConnor
URL: www.twitch.tv/johnconnor
Alias: Jonnor
The Alias Jonnor can be displayed in the profile, in his channel and the Channel Explorer list on the Twitch homepage. And this is optional, the user can display the username as usual, or the Alias name.
This is very similar to social networking platforms, where users have their usernames and nicknames apart.
In addition, to avoid problems in the community, aliases must also be unique and can be changed every 60 days.
This is very useful in order not to lose the main username and only change the Alias from time to time.
For example, on Twitch, my username is Narendiel, and sometimes I want to put Naren as Alias or John Naren, however my username keep it as Narendiel, as channel name.
I think many streamers could appreciate this improvement, attract more users to the community and give a more professional and creative touch to Twitch channels.
Thanks for reading my suggestion, have a nice day!

People when i join channels keep addressing me as my username.
I do not want that. I want to be address as a specific Display Name
But i cannot cause Twitch says that my Display name can only be changes of capitalization of my username.
As much as i can tell streamers to address me a specific way, it is getting tiring. -

I've been wanting to change my display name for a while, but every time I tried it gave me a not very specific error for it. Turns out, you can't have the same display name as other people. Why? This is counterproducent for those people who just set their given or family name as display names, so those who wish to put their name as "Tanaka" have to somehow change the spelling of their name to be allowed to have it? That doesn't make sense, the display name doesn't even overrid the normal username, so why do they both have to be unique?
Make it either one or the other, or just let display names be whatever. -

having the possibility to have 1-3 nicknames, that are variations/plays upon your normal username, fx org name * 50% + x new stuff, ei, my screen name is skunkelmusen, and some have taken to calling me skunkiepie, skunster etc, would be nice if they were highlighted for me as well

How about for me?
I can't have a username of ".NET Bytes" (which is my real name), because of the period in the front. So, I have to resort to "dotnetbytes", which then can only have the casing changed to, "dotNETBytes". I don't like it. I'm okay with the username being "dotnetbytes", but I'd really like to name the channel, ".NET Bytes".

Merhaba,

I have wish I can show a display name that is not matching my Username. I am trying to use a different language than English for my channel but it seems like the setting won't allow me to do so. Can we be allow to have a display name that does not match the username?(For those who are in the US)

Me and most likely a lot of other people would like to have a specific channel name, but we don’t want to have to change our usernames to achieve the channel name.

This is also espeically useful for people who are known by different names in different places. for example, musicians with aliases or people who participate in online fandoms but also have a non-fandom online presence. What might also be an option is an optional "title" that displays next to the display name on your profile and in chat

I've seen this requested feature a lot, option to add a display name? (just like with Twitter, there's a display name, and an @username)
Good way to deal with username snipers, generic words & common names such as "Jake" or "Jacob" are already being used of course, but if someone named "Jacob" creates a username such as /Jacob_535455 then it just looks messy for a channel name, so yeah, a display name should be an option too (it's already on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, Steam, you name it, so it'd be a good idea for here too)
For LIVE notifications, it should still say "@Jacob_535455 just went LIVE" (or something similar) to prevent confusion with someone else named Jacob

Separate User name from channel names i don't like go on friend stream with NewsInside channel name, much people create secondary account only for this and is terrible.

I just realized after changing my user name that my twitch channel and my name in twitch chat still ramained the same after changing my user name.
I think if there was an an option setting that allows users to change their display name or set either display name or user name as default would be very useful.
