gamestreams app on LG tv (webOS) stopped working

Dear twitch,

“gamestreams” is a great app for LG smart tvs (webOS) that allows one to watch twitch streams directly on the tv without the need of using some other casting devices. Unfortunately after the API V3+5 change/shutdown the app suddenly stopped working. I’m sure there are lots of people watching twitch on LG tvs and we’d like to able to do so in the future. After reaching out to the developer of the gamestreams app i got the following answer from Reemet Paabo:

“Yes Twitch.tv is closing down the V3 and V5 API endpoints that we are using and therefor we will have to rewrite the whole Application.
Now, I had started to rewrite the whole application and it was going well, until I hit a brick wall with the Twitch Embed player that I have to use.
It has that Maturity check on it, " Content is rated mature” and you have to press “Start watching” button to continue, unfortunatly there is no way to bypass that and its only clickable, which LG does not allow. You have to be able to use the button with OK key aswell. I’ve tried all kinds of solutions but always end up with cross-origin-policy error ( since the player is “cloning” another website, you can not execute code within it ). For now I’ve given up because there’s no way around cross-origin-policy and sadly twitch developers will not help us eather."

As far as i can tell the developer is willing to adopt to your new API, but is also limited by LG and webOS features. It would be awesome if you could support Reemet in any way or extend your new API so that keyboard events can be used and help to keep the gamestreams app - with that twitch - on LG tv alive.

    The Twitch app currently doesn't work well on LG smart TV, it starts but the live shows remain black screen, or with the middle play button, or an error comes up. I've tried everything reinstall, update, change internet connection but it doesn't work except for a few minutes/hours if I unplug the TV's power cord for 30 seconds but then the problem returns.

    The LG TV App has some major issues, causing my TV to restart after a couple of hours of using it. My guess is that it is caching on the internal storage and when the cache reaches its' limit, the TV restarts. My software version is 05.80.50 and the WebOS is the 3.8.0-61312 (dreadlocks2-dunggir).

    Backseat Gamer is an excellent application, but lately this application has started to freeze often, maybe twitch made some changes ...

    There is another unofficial twitch app on LG TVs (running webOS 4+) called Backseat Gamer that can hopefully hold us over until twitch decides to make an official app.

    Another sad user here. Please give us a twitch app for LG's webos. Watching in the browser is such a pain **********. Please make it happen, Twitch! <3

    We need Twitch on LG TV, Come on, Even GOOGLE YOUTUBE have an official APP.
    Do Amazon devs are TOO BAD to do it ?

    I just bought 2019 LG tv, and it's a huge surprise for me, that there no official twitch.tv app for it.

    Another LG user in here that would love to get back "gamestreams" app (or to have an official version of it) to see Twitch streams directly. Please Twitch, look for a solution!

    ok twitch you just lost a huge audience of potential users on LG tv's? sort this out? Reemet Paabo has obviously done the hard work to provide users of LG tv's with access to this app, and now we cannot access twitch from our LG tv's, as we go into the future, it seems freedoms are getting less not more, also for some parents complaining that somehow big tech need to protect their children rather than that being parents job, re mature content. ouef - now my LG tv and wtitch experience has become worse.

    As the gamestreams app does not work any longer, we are watching twitch (or at least trying to) via the native lg browser, but this is not a real alternative to the gamestreams app
