Remove the terrible persistent overlays that take up a significant portion of the screen on the mobile app

So it turns out this is in fact not a bug, but a feature… LOL. I submitted a support ticket on it - asking them to please tell me this was not another “incredible new feature to fix what isn’t broken!” And this is the response I received:

    I just want to watch twitch streams without having to deal with these annoying overlays. Maybe other people find this stuff entertaining but the fact that bitemojis now take up screen space on full screen mobile app is very infuriating. Especially because there is no way to toggle them off.

    Remove chat overlay. All of those things can be done without taking up screen space.

    Remove these icons! This is the most user hostile change since Twitch tried to imitate TikTok months ago. Absolutely braindead change and I cannot and have not used the iOS app since they added these.

    Who would ever want buttons like this sitting on top of the video? Why are the devs and PMs wasting their time with this?

    Everyone please vote this up, I’d like to watch streamers without several buttons blocking their facecams. I have to use YouTube and it’s terrible bitrate now. Whoever’s idea to display mandatory buttons that block full screen shouldn’t make UI changes.

    Their mobile A/B testing team/ mobile user experience team is horrible, this is the 2nd time I uninstall this app because it’s PAINFUL to use
    This is the only app in 10 years running on iOs that Im uninstalling because of the user experience
    Twitch web is actually really great
    I really can’t understand how twitch mobile can be so bad everytime

    There NEEDS to be an option to hide these buttons. They are intrusive and unnecessary. No reason why this shouldn’t be configurable. Please offer that option. It’s taking up screen space on mobile and doesn’t provide me any benefit.

    But then how is Twitch supposed to remind you to spend MORE of your money on bits or gift subs? HALF (2 of the 4) of the persistent icons are paid options. This change is gross.

    ****, I had the exact same thing. Honestly shocked it turns out this isn’t a bug. Legitimately distracting enough to stop me watching streams entirely. Really hope they walk back this change and let us get that **** off the screen asap

    This has got to be the hands down absolute worst feature ever. Fire whatever dev greenlit this and blacklist him from ever touching a keyboard again.
