Dual Format Streaming & Vertical Video (Beta)
We're kicking off early testing of Dual Format streaming and Vertical Video. This feature is limited to select channels at this time.
During Beta, some viewer-facing features may not be available when watching in the new vertical view. Your viewers will be able to tap a button to switch back to the classic view and access all of their favorite features during the testing period. Check out the help article to see a list of KNOWN bugs and feature limitations here: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/dual-format-vertical-video
We want your feedback on the experience so we can make improvements before expanding access to more streamers later this year!

Could this be added for the tablet app? I watch on an IPad Pro with the chat panel expanded so it and the video takes up about half of the screen in landscape. This would be perfect for dual vertical streams to fill up the left side with the video much better than having black bars top and bottom.

I really dont like vertical stream beta on mobile. Its not good. Its definitely a downgrade. It stretches the screen and looks bad. Doesnt switch to landscape view properly and is a terrible experience when trying to watch gameplay or needing to go picture in picture. As a moderator, I hate this. It makes moderating much harder. Also, when trying to revert to Classic view it stays in vertical but with a tiny picture. Landscape view is broken in all modes. Please change back. It ruins the viewing experience.

Huge thanks to Twitch for giving me the opportunity to test this awesome feature. It’s a fresh and exciting way to connect with viewers — really enjoying the experience so far!

I've noticed if I use my stream deck's create clip button, it totally ignores the vertical and only shows the horizontal. And when this happens, you don't even get to edit again for vertical. Vs when I create a clip in the browser with Alt+X it'll work fine. This makes capturing clips yourself difficult because you don't get vertical and you don't even get the edit.

Chat is hard to parse in vertical video on mobile. It seems there's a slight transparency behind the chat, and I did see the option to have short, medium, or tall chat, however the transparency (or opacity, rather) needs to be upped to allow for more contrast.
_Maybe_ you could solve it by allowing viewers to choose the primary color of chat text, but I think a more opaque bg for the chat would be better, especially since users can hide it entirely if they so choose.
