On the UX of the new stream manager beta on Android
I have checked out the new Beta of the Stream Manager coming to the App and while I appreciate that every feature of the desktop manager is accessible, it is also inconvenient that one has to swipe through all the widgets.
Using the stream manager on my phone, usually means that I don't have access to the normal stream manager, so only seeing one widget at a time doesnt yield a lot of useful information at a glance. At minimum being able to view the activity feed alongside chat would be very helpful.
Best case would be to allow users to customize their screen to show multiple widgets, similar to how you can arrange multiple elements on Desktop.
This is especially worthwhile, as modern phone sizes have the real estate to show multiple widgets at once (and so do other devices like tablets
The idea of being able to swipe between widgets i like, but i would rather like to swipe between sets that I defined myself.
Examples of useful combinations in my eye would be:
- mod queue + mod actions
- chat and activity
- quick actions by itself or with chat
