I just wanted to make sure to pile on to what everyone else is saying: this app update is the single worst redesign Twitch has ever done.

Some people in leadership and a product owner or two are probably too busy high-fiving each other for coming up with such a “relevant” idea for a redesign to realize that this is, to put it lightly, beyond bad.

Twitch is not a social media app. That much was already proven when the leaders who oversee mobile engineering decided that “stories” should be a feature on Twitch only for nobody to use it. And nobody uses it because Twitch is not Instagram or Snapchat. It’s a bad implementation of a bad idea.

This here latest update is a continuation of your leaders’ insistence on making Twitch profitable by trying to make it something that it’s not.

I have no doubt in my mind that your engineers knew full well that this was a terrible idea, but they were undoubtedly ignored in their concerns and were still glad to get paid making something that they hate, just like almost every single iOS user.

Change the app back. This is not a change people will just accept like YouTube redesigning the subscription box a decade or so ago. This is genuinely horrible UX and a godforsaken UI.
