tVOS 17.0 Twitch App VOD video goes black after 5 minutes of watching
The Twitch Apple TV app does not work on the new tvOS 17.0 OS just released. When watching a VOD the video will suddenly go all black but the sound will continue playing.
The Apple TV Twitch App is literally unusuable in this state. Please fix this.

I have a solution - I had the issue, but the solution for me was to set the quality setting from 1080p to "auto", then the screen dont go to black anymore.. it is weird but it fixed it straight away, else i also had black screen after 1 maybe 2 min constantly, but now in "auto quality mode" it just works.

I submitted a ticket on this yesterday and received a nearly instant response from a tech support person.
Unfortunately they hadn't read the ticket and the response was about some problem with video playback in the firefox browser which I don't even use, not the tvOS problem I reported.

I submitted this ticket 4 months ago (147 days ago to be exact). Not only has the issue not been fixed but has yet to even be ACKNOWLEDGED by Twitch staff on this forum. Since December 2023 I’ve switched to watching streams on YouTube and Kick, two streaming services with functioning apps.
To anyone who reads this in the future:
1) I’m sure this issue has still not been acknowledged by Twitch staff
2) I’m really sure the issue still has not been fixed
3) The Twitch staff overseeing the UserVoice forum are completely incompetent and should’ve been first in line for Twitch’s last workforce rationalization.

It blows my mind how this has been going for MONTHS with no fix. It’s so annoying and I’ve now gone to YouTube to catch on streamers who duel stream because YouTube actually knows how to run things

Build 12.3.0. No fix for black screen.

Yeah, that’s how we tend to watch Critical Role live-streaming, because we can see the captions.
Otherwise. We end up going to YouTube and giving YouTube the money.
How about them Apples, Twitch?

I found a fix!
Well its more like a bypass but still i don't have black screens anymore. Quite simple actually all you have to do is to airplay your Iphone's twitch vod on your apple Tv. Works for me -

We might need someone here who knows coding to get a job at twitch, fix the problem even though it’s not their department, and then quit. Thanks in advance for your service to this cause.

I suspect this has something to do with some form DRM protection that was quickly and poorly implemented.
But despite users having issues and this issue being reported multiple times, zero resolution or even a response from staff saying anything.
What a disappointment

Nebbiebby could you keep us updated on how it goes on your end? Maybe you do something different than the rest of us.

Definitely not fixed. It's actually gotten worse. Don't think they care though.

Interesting, I'm not sure what could have changed but I haven't been able to watch this guys stream in months without it going black or having to set it to 720p to stop it from going in slow motion and lagging. I guess I better make sure to not reboot.

Nope, Issue still happening. No updates available in App Store.

Holy **** I do believe they have finally fixed it after three months. I’m no longer having issues at 1080p @ 120.
