PiP doesn’t work with chat (iPad OS)
When watching a stream or a vod with the chat sidebar open, and the video shrunk beside it(not fullscreen), it will break Picture-in-Picture when leaving the app. Only audio will play.
If the video is fullscreen with the chat overlayed transparently on top PiP works correctly.

+1 very unintuitive experience that took me a few weeks of passive struggle to finally understand why PiP wouldn’t work
