Monitor and Restrict User commands as API endpoints
4 chat commands that would be great to have as API endpoints:
/monitor USERNAME - Start monitoring a user's messages.
/unmonitor USERNAME - Stop monitoring a user's messages.
/restrict USERNAME - Start restricting a user's messages
/unrestrict USERNAME - Stop restricting a user's messages

Echoing the calls of others, this would be an amazing endpoint to have instead of requiring bots to have to maintain a constant connection to the chat to run these.

This would be very helpful for moderation tools

It would increase the viewer safety and limit the harassment caused by spammers. Without banning them, meaning that they won't create new bots or accounts to continue the harassment. Don't ban bots as it would only make everything worse in the long term.

Using this will greatly impact the ability to trick harasses on twitch to waste their time instead of immediately making a new account when banned.

This would be superful for mods and streamers to have more control over the content going into their chat.

Great idea that gives moderators a useful tool to hide hateful and violent content before a chat can give it any thought. These messages can then be dealt with by a moderator or simply left to think they are chatting and doing no damage and not even realize it.

Love this idea! This should 100% be implemented!

Would be a big step toward moderation in general. Being able to monitor specific usernames of users that show problematic behavior sounds very useful considering the ongoing issues with inappropriate spammers, commenters, bots, etc.

This would be a great tool added for streamers. It would be able use up and waste the resourses of bots that try to scam users on streams, as well as restricting users that spam chat with comments that are either unrespectful or repetative.

This will make it easier for streamers to moderate their streams.

Great submission
Our moderation could be made easier for bigger channels
Being able to chat but it not showing up will stop huge bot farms
Because of this, the cat and mouse game will take longer
Opening up the API more, helps the community as a wholeRestricting seems better at the moment then banning.
Also, maybe restrict them from Donating/Subbing etc etc
I fully hope this gets implemented sooner than later
Darn good suggestion -

Having the capabilities to restrict and unrestrict, through the API, will allow streamers to monitor with a potential problematic user; with the user thinking they can chat and able to chat, will have their chat logs enlargened overtime which can allow the streamer/mod to commit to a ban to that user if the user's chatter be too problematic. This, however, data is only useful if the user hasn't realized they been shadow banned.

It will help with filtering spammed messages, and help the mods better track chats, without letting the offending account get information on how to beat getting banned.

This would allow for mods power to put users in timeout session.

thor has built this to protect the amazing community we have built. It is a great tool to combat those that just want to spam hate. Im sure small channels would benefit greatly form this as they cant afford to pay as many mods and with bots the smaller streams can get overwhelmed by the bots and spammers that for some reason spend all their time and energy trying to ruin someone's stream. Please give this a real look <3

Great way to implement smarter auto mods, reducing information given to a specific user about it's current status.

This is a much needed addition. If a person is only Banned, then a secondary account can be made to start again. However, if an account is restricted, then a person doesn't realize they were restricted from view. They may continue to spout the hateful speech without affecting the community. Speech may be free, but others are required to read or listen to that speech. Help the streamer and their communities create a better Twitch experience.

helpful for moderators and streamers to have this available allowing them to easily deal with spambots
