MCSR Ranked
I would like to add a category for the game MCSR Ranked. MCSR Ranked is technically a mod for Minecraft: Java Edition, and is classified on IGDB as such. I understand that game mods typically do not get their own category; however, MCSR Ranked is a fully-fledged competitive platform with its own website, ranking system, tournaments, and prize pools, with a consistent base of streamers who play it regularly. The most recent official tournament, the "Playoffs," featured a $5,000 prize pool (with $3,000 going to the winner) and reached a combined peak viewership of 63,156 across 28 channels. Notably, 28,757 of those viewers were watching channels other than the event's largest co-streamer (Ludwig), demonstrating a strong and growing organic audience.
Because MCSR Ranked streamers currently fall under the general Minecraft: Java Edition category, viewers have no way to find or filter for MCSR Ranked content. At any given time there are typically around 20 streamers live playing MCSR Ranked, yet they are effectively invisible to anyone browsing Twitch for specifically that content.

Terrible idea ngl, splitting viewerbases has straight up just NEVER helped any community grow.

I think this is a bad idea as we are still very connected to the minecraft community (mid offs) and most of our players come from that connection. Not to mention rsg and other categories would be seperated from ranked when they've always come hand in hand

I think a general ‘Minecraft Speedrunning’ or ‘MCSR’ category would be better, but I agree with the sentiment :)

mcsr is one of the most popular minecraft categories, maybe even the most popular as of right now, so it would be very cool if this happened

Another thing I'd like to add is that even without big events being done within MCSR Ranked, at regular hours the biggest MCSR Ranked streamers pull in several thousand concurrent viewers as well as the "category" as a whole pulls in just about 10,000 peak concurrent viewers a day.

I'd love to see this implemented. So many Minecraft speedrunners are just trapped in the entire Minecraft bubble when it's so different from how everyone else plays the game. We aren't building, we don't PvP, and we don't play on SMPs. If QSMP can have a unique category, I don't see why MCSR Ranked can't.

More accurately to the original post, I believe many more than 20 people stream at once. MCSR Ranked, being it's own game at this point, has a large audience for watching top players to improve yourself. So for that reason, beyond the typical content creators, there are hundreds of people streaming the game without a microphone or face cam etc. basically archiving their games for people to view. Due to the fact the Minecraft category is so unbelievably large, these people go without an audience, and have less reach to the community. I think making MCSR Ranked it's own category gives more of a reason for these streamers to reach out and maybe phase into streamlining their content more.
