Twitch viewer bot possible fix?
🟣 PITCH: Replace View Count Ranking with Weighted Engagement Score
Problem:
The current Twitch ranking system prioritizes raw viewer count, which:
Rewards viewbotting
Punishes smaller creators with real engagement
Makes category pages easy to manipulate
Solution:
Implement a Weighted Engagement Score (WES) system to determine stream ranking based on actual interaction—not inflated views.
Key Metrics WES Could Include:
🧍 Unique active chatters (non-spam)
📈 Viewer retention rate (5+ min stay)
❤️ Follower growth rate (per hour)
🔥 Momentum score (sustained activity spikes)
🌐 Geo/IP diversity (detects proxy farms)
🤝 Raid/host traffic (legit community growth)
🧮 Active viewer/chat ratio (real vs silent viewers)
Why It Works:
Bots can’t mimic natural chat or retention
New streamers with active chats rise more visibly
Raid-friendly and growth-based = healthier platform
Makes botting expensive, less effective, and easy to detect
Bonus:
Add a “Fresh Streamer Boost” to highlight new creators with good retention
Show streamers their own WES to improve naturally
Adjust weights per game category (e.g., slower-paced genres)
Bottom Line:
Viewer count is outdated. Let’s rank creators by who’s actually engaging real people—not who has the most fake eyes.
This helps Twitch stay fair, bot-resistant, and creator-first.

I agree they need to step up their efforts to save the platform before everyone thinks it’s all bot views
