Restore removed game category that was still in use (Unreal Tournament)
Hello,
It seems like the game category „Unreal Tournament“ was removed since it can't be found anymore. I am not sure if this was by accident or based on a conscious decision after the development of Unreal Tournament 4 was stopped by Epic last year.
However, the category „Unreal Tournament“ is still needed. It is in daily use by the Unreal Tournament community that is maintaining and still actively playing as well as streaming the original game from 1999 (usually referred to as “UT” or “UT99”). Besides that, Unreal Tournament 4 (“UT4”) is also still maintained by the community as well as played and streamed.
Therefore, it seems inappropriate to remove the game category „Unreal Tournament“. On the contrary, it needs to remains available. If not, there’s no way for us to obey to the Community Guidelines that mandate a proper category selection.
Tank you.
NOTE: I opened a ticket about this issue that was handled with a generic reply which was besides all points raised. After messaging back, I was met with silence. Obviously the AI has decided not to talk to me anymore. This process is tedious and needs improvement.

The removal of the "Unreal Tournament" category on Twitch is an error. This error happened, because there are 2 games which share the exact same name. The two games in question are Unreal Tournament (1999) and the reboot Unreal Tournament (2014). The last one (2014) got cancelled and there was never an official release. Because the reboot was cancelled it has led to the removal of the "Unreal Tournament" category on Twitch, however, the very first Unreal Tournament (1999) game was never cancelled and had an official release.
In summary - 2 games share the same exact name. The newest game got cancelled, while the original old one had an official release and is still active.
Please bring back our beloved "Unreal Tournament" category! If I remember correctly, the "Unreal Tournament" had over 100k followers, it would be unfortunate if we lose them all...

Unreal tournament 1999 is a legendary FPS game, and the namesake of Unreal Engine. It doesn't seem appropriate to remove such a historic title, especially when its community is growing and actively developing content for others to enjoy, even after all these years. This is an incredible game and Twitch would feel woefully incomplete without it!

UT99 has a large enough playerbase to have regular pickup games that are streamed, which I stream myself on occasion, as well as casted draft league matches that allow for a more closely knit gaming community. We would love to have the Unreal Tournament tag returned, please and thanks.

Yes please bring it back, the game is still alive and has an active playerbase. A new patch for UT99 got published just very recently. The game is still getting actively developed. New maps are being created. New people/players are joining our Discord almost daily and there are many new events coming up that must necessarily be streamed. Streaming an almost 25 year old game under its game tag is highly significant to keep it alive.
Long live Unreal Tournament 1999 and Bunnytrack!

Growing up on UT99, and having played every Unreal game, still coming back to this day, I think this issue must be resolved, you cannot erase a game from History, especially not one who played such an important role in the FPS genre.
Please fix it. -

I am streaming Unreal Tournament 1999 on a daily basis, both as a player and play-by-play commentator during seasonal events that our community hosts. Having UT category on Twitch is vital and plays a key role in keeping the 24 year old game alive. Please restore the category.

This game has a tremendous amount of love and support behind it. In fact, we have developers committed to updating and improving the base game Unreal Tournament, with a github and regular releases being made available to players.
Please consider adding this game (Unreal Tournament 1999, not UT4) back to the list of streaming categories. Doing so would not only help players old and new have a way of finding content for this game on this platform, it would also only add to the bottom line of Twitch by providing additional revenue through the advertisements such streams would play. Thanks.

Twitch why you do this to us :( This game is still maintained and has a wonderful community of active people who love and stream this game still in 2024! There needs to be a "Unreal Tournament" category on twitch. Please and thank you!

I follow the Unreal Tournament category specifically to see people play UT99. Please make it reappear. Thank you!

Just because the 2016 game got cancelled in Pre-Alpha doesn't mean the 1999 game doesn't exist, please bring that category back. Best case to have both categories since all the UT games have some form of activity still in them.
