Restore removed game category that was still in use (Unreal Tournament)
Hello,
It seems like the game category „Unreal Tournament“ was removed since it can't be found anymore. I am not sure if this was by accident or based on a conscious decision after the development of Unreal Tournament 4 was stopped by Epic last year.
However, the category „Unreal Tournament“ is still needed. It is in daily use by the Unreal Tournament community that is maintaining and still actively playing as well as streaming the original game from 1999 (usually referred to as “UT” or “UT99”). Besides that, Unreal Tournament 4 (“UT4”) is also still maintained by the community as well as played and streamed.
Therefore, it seems inappropriate to remove the game category „Unreal Tournament“. On the contrary, it needs to remains available. If not, there’s no way for us to obey to the Community Guidelines that mandate a proper category selection.
Tank you.
NOTE: I opened a ticket about this issue that was handled with a generic reply which was besides all points raised. After messaging back, I was met with silence. Obviously the AI has decided not to talk to me anymore. This process is tedious and needs improvement.

Please add the Unreal Tournament category back to Twitch. There are three valid and active games still out there that many people stream, watch, and play, and now there is nowhere (aside from your competitors) where streamers and communities can share the games with their viewers.

As a long time Unreal Tournament streamer I would appreciate it if twitch brought back the Unreal Tournament game category. Thank you.

The 333networks masterserver (master.333networks.com) received more than 17.500 list request for UT99 in December 2023. Or, in simpler language, people pressed the "play multiplayer game" button more than 17.500 times in the last month to play Unreal Tournament '99 with others (and this is 333networks only, I do not have the statistics for errorist, newbiesplayground and the other masterservers).
If Twitch removed the category intentionally because (mistakenly) was assumed that the Unreal Tournament category is no longer relevant, I hope that this statistic can be an indication that the game is far from abandoned.

We have thousands and thousands of active players and members in the UT99/GOTY discord servers. There are still active releases for the game released by the community (even though the original developers dropped it a long time ago). Development and maps happen on a daily basis spread across all of these communities. We have had new players who have never heard of the game as well as old players who assumed that the game was completely dead see streams on twitch and join our communities. Twitch is a big way we are keeping this game alive, and having our visibility being reduced on Twitch will be a big hit. I'm assuming the UT4 community will also take a hit from this seeing as how even though UT4 is "cancelled", there are still active communities that exist for it as well as active tournaments and competitions.
Please restore this category and continue to allow these games to survive well into the future!

I just want to know why it was considered reasonable to remove a category before checking the category analytics, before checking to see if it's at the whims of the gaming industry's revisionist history practices of naming a sequel or remake identically to an original, or any due diligence, researching the situation before unilaterraly deciding on a disruptive action.
This is a situation that should never happen, and any staff member that looked at the category for a moment would have been able to see it is active and accurate.

Unreal Tournament communities need platforms such as Twitch in order to keep surviving. Please bring the category back.

There is still many players from the UT99 scene that stream on a regular Basis and some categories that rely on Twitch to give visibility to the game and the fact that is still very alive and kicking. Please add back UT back as a category, if not the regular UT from epic which was cancelled, at least give us the UT99 categore which was the most streamed.
But a category with just "Unreal Tournament" is a must!
