Refine the Music category into more specific categories.
The Music category has got extremely stacked in the last couple of years. I'd like to suggest creating sub-categories for Music, or more specific Music categories like Music Production, DJ, Radio, Performance, etc...
With Music being a such a broad category at the moment I feel like it's a challenge for people to find the specific kind of Music content they want and it would also help music streamers who specialise in specific areas of the category find their audience a lot easier in what is currently a massively popular (but congested) category.

Simply having one "Music" category isn't not enough. As this area of the platform has gown, navigating though the music section is becoming increasingly more difficult to find the streamers/topics you want.
While I think there could be multiple more categories, I'd specifically request a "Synthesizer" category. While this may not be a popular choice in its current state, there are a large group of active users and streamers that are interested in exclusively synthesizer related music performance streams. We are on religiously every day and the main way we all go about finding new synthesizer performer streams is through word-of-mouth in chats. Trying to find a picture of a synthesizer in a sea of other music performance, production and dj streams is a difficult task.

I was flabbergasted recently when I went to Music and realised how bloody hard it is to find actual humans playing actual instruments with all the "radio" channels and DJs saturating the category.

Yes, PLEASE make Radio a separate category. It would make things much better for live performance. Or, create a category called Live Musicians.

I think this would be a huge improvement especially for music producers and people who are searching for music production on Twitch.
In my experience, the music category is mostly crowded with music performances (DJs, live performers, etc.) This makes it harder for music production streamer to get discovered and it makes it harder for people who are searching especially for music production.

This isnt a request really because this really needs to be done. I am sick of DJ'ers playing DCMA'd music for one thing and Twitch allowing it just because they have thousands of viewers. Fine but get rid of DJ'ers on the Music category. Music is one thing; playing Music owned and copyrighted by others is another; and lastly this would make room for content creators and real musicians who could use a little more exposure; including me lol but hey I am a musician, so. There are several musicians out there writing their own music and need to be recognized; some of them already are and thats nice ! I just think the Music category needs to be cleaned up and this is one way of doing it; PLEASE !

Hmm this gives me thought about 3 categories:
Live Music Performance
Live DJ
Live Radio/Mixtape -

Currently people have to scroll through hundreds of "mixtape" channels of people simply playing their playlist to find actual live performing musicians who are buried in this "Music and Performing Arts" category.
I suggest you separate out the two into separate categories. One category for "Live Music Performance/Composition" and one for "Music Mixtapes" This will also help bring more recognition to the musicians on twitch.

As a professional Musician looking to branch full time into Twitch streaming I find this a big deterrent. I'm still going to stream because of many reasons. My goal is to see if Twitch can surpass my current efforts in public live.
The artistic "performing" should be separate from "radio". The effort it takes to get your set, your personality, your talent on camera and shine is immense. Give us a shot at being seen. Helping us get closer together as streaming musicians. Which I see as the future of this platform. Togetherness. Music is a language we all speak. I can't wait to connect with folks around the world. -

If Twitch is really trying to leverage themselves as a place for musicians, they really do need to differentiate between "live music performance" and radio. The content and experience provided by these two types of streams are very different.
Not that there is anything wrong with having music radio.... just make a "Radio" category. It would allow for easier maneuverability and would better connect viewers with the content they are actually seeking. Otherwise, the live musicians just get lost in a sea of digital music streams.

The Music & Performing Arts category is oversaturated with music radio channels. Scrolling through to find live musicians and DJs is too much of a chore. 'Sort by: Viewers (Low to High)' is almost completely useless because the bottom of the list is full of music radio streams with 0 viewers.
At the very least, this is making the Music & Performing Arts category look very unclean. I also think this change is especially needed now that searching by tags through the main search bar is no longer a thing.

Right now it is WAY too hard to find streamers who are actually singing or playing instruments. I get so frustrated browsing the Music & Performance category because the content I'm looking for is always, ALWAYS buried beneath an absolute mountain of DJs broadcasting their gigs at clubs or mixing prerecorded music from home set-ups.
The funny part is that I don't even necessarily -dislike- EDM! My fondest memories of the late 90s are pretty much a blur of party drugs and glow sticks thanks to the underground rave scene. That said... these streams are too numerous and it feels like I'm scrolling for ages before finding any actual performances in the Music & Performance category. Definitely not finding more than 3 or 4 examples of content I was looking for before losing patience and giving up. This predicament is slowly reprogramming my brain. It's interpreting "dude with one ear tucked close to his shoulder" as the universal gesture for "keep on scrolling, Winny!". I can feel the word "lo-fi" slowly but surely becoming a trigger word. PLEASE HELP.

This is a great idea. I don't want to have to scroll through twelve 24/7 radio streams just to find a music production streamer with a hundred viewers, never mind search even harder for one who is less well known.

There is a huge difference between what we do as DJ's compared to a radio station that is just playing a list of music. Both have their place would be nice to have a little separation from the playlist stuff.

The radio station channels take up allot of the first page in the music section and its annoying. after talking with many other musician in different music streams on twitch i only get agreement on this issue and we all want the creative/ music section to grow bigger but it looks like a mess now to be honest. So by giving us the ability to choose what categories we want to watch within the music section. you can of have a tab that shows everything like it is now for those who want that.
Some examples can be: Production, Radio, instruments, talkshow, tech, DJ, sing and songwriter, Feedback, tutorial and help. etc this is just some examples but i know that this will help the creative parts of twitch allot and thats a win/win for all that watch and twitch itself!
