Trans tag request
It is hard enough finding trans representation in our daily lives. With the LGBTQIA+ tag, one still needs to browse through channels and spend time in them to find trans streamers. A "trans" tag would help people searching for these communities.
Today we are rolling out 350+ tags, including the transgender tag, to provide you with more options on how you express yourself and your content, so that you can more easily connect with one another and build wonderful communities. We are really appreciative for all of the feedback around this topic (and other related suggestions).
We previously told you that we had a better solution to this request than adding the tag, and we were wrong. This has been one of the most popular requests we’ve heard, and the simple truth is that we should have done this sooner. In an effort to think carefully about how to best address this, we only made the situation more difficult. Again, thank you for helping us throughout this process in reevaluating our stance.
Please continue to share ideas and feedback you have to UserVoice, as well as any suggestions for additional tags you feel we may have missed! We are working to invest more into this forum and aim to have faster communications in the future.
Please check out our blog post for more info: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/

Back, Again. 4,500 voices, representing probably thousands more. All being BLATANTLY ignored. Twitch, this might not affect you much, but it has a HUGE impact on us. It literally takes a few button clicks on your end to make someone's life dramatically better and won't hurt your bottom line. Twitch is losing touch with it's consumers, and it's very sad for all of us.

I want to chime in again after reading some more of these comments and speaking with some of my fellow streamers. It appears that Twitch is outright refusing to add the Trans tag because they think that the LGBTQ tag is enough. Well, it isn’t. There are way too many in this community who are not trans friendly. This is absolutely unacceptable. I’m NB myself, but I have a trans son. While he doesn’t stream and is only 12, I would hope that if he ever did decide to get on twitch one day, that he would be able to find a community of trans streamers. Adding this tag allows people to find each other. Our trans family cannot find each other using the LGBTQ tag because, as many have mentioned multiple times already, there are a lot of trans exclusionary people who use this tag. It isn’t fair or right. And the fact that Twitch won’t even give a proper answer shows just how little they actually care. It would seem that Twitch doesn’t have any interest in doing even the smallest thing to help the trans community. This is disgusting in my opinion. Just admit you don’t care and don’t want to do anything so everyone knows what kind of community this really is, one that excludes people. Shame on you, Twitch.

Hmm... Still nothing from Twitch. Let's hope this gets boosted enough to be addressed at the Twitch Town Hall. It's the fact that giving our Trans community, friends, and family, a way to connect and share a safe-space via Trans Tag would ever be up in the air, for me. Let's get this going. I've revisited this page almost everyday and much as I love seeing that more and more people are starting to pay attention to this request, I would rather see that Twitch is actually doing everything they can about the feedback they're "taking into consideration." Please, just make this happen already. Our trans friends and families deserve so much better than what you are giving at this point!

Back to comment again. You know one of the reasons trans people are known to have severe depression issues? It's a feeling of isolation, a lack of community or support network that shares your views. The only argument I've heard from twitch is they are protecting us. From what? Community? Connection? Support? If we can't even find each other, how is that protecting us? About the potential for harassment, as many people have pointed out, just having a tag doesn't force us to use it, it's still a choice. But if we don't have the tag that choice is taken away from us. We just want the option, and it would literally take almost no effort on your part.

I mod for LGBTQ+ and Trans streamers, and can say that there is a community in place that is willing to be there to protect Trans Streamers. We just need to be able to find each other so we can do this. If you isolate Trans people by not giving them the visibility they need, you are doing more to harm the problem of abuse than by not giving them the option to build the communities we need to thrive. That you have waited months to address this problem is frankly shameful.

Commenting again to say how wonderful this would be for not just the trans community on Twitch but for Twitch itself to be supporters of the trans community. A reminder to the staff reading this that not all people in the LGBTQA+ community are actually trans-friendly. There has been so much wasted time on my own part as a trans guy where I supported a streamer just for having the LGBTQA+ tag only for them to say something transphobic later down the line, giving me huge regret when my money and time, AKA support, could have been towards someone who supports me as a trans person as much as I support them as a streamer. It's actually heartbreaking to realize you supported someone for months or even years only for them to eventually say something dehumanizing about trans people in the end. If it's trolling you're worried about, you shouldn't be. It's not protection when you're keeping us from being seen. You can protect us by making transphobia bannable like racism is. Trans people can opt out of using the tag if they are worried about being trolled. I personally have been on twitch since 2014 and commend you, Twitch, for how you've grown in supporting all content creators. Now trans people need the OPTION of visibility now more than ever. We're ready for this. Please make this happen soon. Thank you.

Twitch—this is past due. Please add the trans tag. Your community has spoken and given you literally thousands of reasons why this is such an important issue.

We need more representation. We already know the gaming sphere is way too saturated with White Cisgender Men. Being able to find others similar to your own is truly a life changing thing. If you want to keep pushing the envelope in being a top streaming service that cares about its users, bringing attention to minority/marginalized groups is a fantastic and pretty much necessary way to go. ESPECIALLY the Trans Tag. Help us make our spaces easier to find and easier to grow, so we can let the rest of world know we exist and thrive.

I implore Twitch to consider adding an asterisk to such a tag - i.e. ‘trans*’. The asterisk includes trans* identities beyond the gender binary. If not, I suggest a ‘non-binary’ tag should be added as well.
Should we receive a trans/trans* tag, it should be clarified that it is intended for use solely by trans* creators (and not allies). Ally use occurs with the LGBTQ+ tag thus hides ***** creators.
Thanks for reading my comment :)

This is an amazing tag for our ***** community, if the worry is that our trans siblings will be harassed by others, we constantly get harassed by others for having the LGBTQIA+ tag. Having the Trans Tag will help our community find each other. We need MORE transparency on the why this is delayed. IE. the reason why you CANNOT share any information. We need to hear your "solutions", if not just give my trans siblings their Trans Tag!

This would be a net-sum gain for the broader community, and would allow representation to be sought out in a more clear and precise manner. This would be a great addition.
